1979 MG MGB

Thanks for viewing my auction. A little introduction and history. I am a dealer and purchased this MG a few months ago at a local auction with a very bad engine knock and zero oil pressure. Typically this is not the kind of car I normally shop for but my love for old English cars made me go for it. (I currently own 2 Austin Mini Coopers and have owned TR4's and TR6's in the past).

Engine: Took the MG back to my shop, removed and tore down the motor to the bare block, built back the motor with all new bearings (rod and main), new piston rings, new oil pump, new clutch, all seals and gaskets replaced etc...The cylinder head, connecting rods and crankshaft were sent to a machine shop for refurbishing and as can be seen in the engine build pictures below, everything came out great. I have included 2 photos of the dashboard showing oil pressures of 75psi at idle (engine cold) and 50 psi at idle at normal operating temperature. Engine runs very smooth. No cold start issues with the weber downdraft carb. No oil or coolant leaks whatsoever. I have put approx 400 miles on the motor since the rebuild and this car ticks over at 600rpm and cruises down the highway very well.

Suspension: Very tight. No vibration or pulling or ball joint clunking going down the road. Tires have approx 80% thread life left. Steering is tight and responsive. There is a rattle only at idle coming from what seems to be the left rear area which I will try to identify and address this week.

Body: While the original paint still shines well and the entire car is completely RUST FREE, there are many scrapes and a few dings around the car. I have tried my absolute best to highlight the imperfection as best as possible. I think the worse is the boot which seems to have a bend in it so the gap is no where close to a show car. It also has a small ding around the boot latch. This car is what one would call a 10 footer....(looks good from 10 feet away). I make no claims that this is a $10k and over car....far from it, but can be driven as it is in style and its up to the new owner to repaint and clean up the body. Convertible top seems new but does have a very small tear on the lower left corner.

Electrics: Headlights, low and high, park light, brakelights, indicators all work. All guages work, (temp, oil, speedo, fuel, tach, clock)....The clock however runs extremely fast so may have to be replaced or fixed...radio wipers and courtesy light all work. Horn does not work. choke cable currently not hooked up to carb....I'll try to hook that up before auction ends.

All in all a very presentable MGB. Please ask me as many questions as possible as I may have forgot something. If you are local, I strongly suggest that you come out and view the vehicle in person. Please note once again that this is not a perfect car but in very good condition for a almost 40 year old automobile. Obviously this car is sold as is with no warranty so buyers please do your own due diligence. Thanks again for participating in this auction

P.S. I have uploaded approx. 60 pics below so be patient as they may take a while to upload
