MGB roadster 1972 with overdrive

Description:

1972 MG B roadster

Very clean body and floors, older but very nice black paint (look at reflections in photos to show how straight the car is), 54,000 miles, one owner from new until 2011, I bought the car from the second owner (and this is verified on the title).
Last owner spent $7,000 on a complete engine and transmission/overdrive overhaul and have done my best to confirm this....compression is 170-189 psi in every cylinder, 60+ psi oil pressure when warm....all of this is equivalent, or better than, 'factory fresh.'
Has expensive additions such as Aeroquip steel braided lines to the oil cooler and a thermostatic control, Mallory coil and distributor, all new wheel bearings and splined wheel hubs, wood dashboard and wood steering wheel, modern stereo.
Top is fairly new (looks a bit crinkled in the photo but this is due to having spent most of its brief life folded down), seats and interior are really nice, comfortable and in great condition. And even a fully carpeted trunk.
1972-1974 MGBs are among the best of the breed....the 1968-1971 cars lacked air vents and even a glove box with the ugly 'pillow' dash covering. But with the air vents, not too bad driving this car on a wet, hot day AND it allows air conditioning to be nicely integrated in the factory dashboard.
Brakes appear to be in very good condition, front end is tight, wire wheels in good condition, wiring looks intact, undisturbed, and in good condition, all electricals work, chrome is possibly original but not pitted or peeling, windshield not cracked, all in all, a remarkably well preserved 46 year old car that has only seen not much over 1,000 miles a year. Probably used by original owner as a 3rd or 4th 'fun' car.
With the overdrive, car is quiet and refined on the highway turning around 2,800 rpm at 60 mph. Which contributes to longer engine life (as does the oil cooler), quieter operation, and better fuel economy. And it works like new, clicking in and out quickly and not missing a beat.
Car seems unusually fast and, no doubt, the 180 psi compression is a factor. Don't know about any engine modifications but having driven MGBs for forty five years, this seems to me to be one of the quickest.
Most anything can easily be changed....don't like the cloth covered seats? Have a pair of excellent vinyl seats I can substitute. Want to drive this car in the Winter? I can supply a hardtop. Live in a hot weather environment? I can install effective modern air conditioning. Live in a cold weather area? Can install a powerful supplemental heater (drove one of my other MGBs in Winter last year, down to 10 degrees and it was comfy). Substitute beautiful chrome wire wheels? No problem.Carry golf clubs? No problem installing a luggage rack. Don't ike the wood dash, can remove it. On and on........
Car starts instantly, runs flawlessly, no smoke cold or hot, all gauges work, and is sufficiently clean for a local show. And stunning in black with the silver wire wheels.
I can assist in transport anywhere in the country or the world, can store the car for free until shipping arrangements are made, and based on extensive driving, wouldn't have any qualms about someone flying in and driving home. Have done my best to accurately describe the car, photos in the engine and trunk compartment and lots of photos underneath showing no patching, no rusting, no undercoating (used to hide nasties), and the rest is a good representation of my car.
As it is advertised elsewhere and available for immediate sale, I reserve the right to end this auction at any time and for any reason. I really think that this car is fairly unique with such low mileage, only two owners, and in great condition.
I would like the successful bidder to contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction and effect full payment within seven days. With a 20% deposit within 48 hours.
