1955 MG TF 1500 MATCHING #s RUNNING WIRES SOLID GARAGE FIND PROJECTTHIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTNG AND WILL SELL TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER!
PLEASE READ ALL THIS LISTING AS I DESCRIBE EVERYTHING HONESTLY AND COMPLETELY!
This is a 1955 MG TF 1500 that is partially restored and has the rare, original wire wheel and clock options. This car was last on the road in 1978. It was completely dismantled and a restoration was begun. Thousands of dollars in parts were purchased for the restoration in 1978-79 and recently. Since then the car was garaged. The owner let the project languish and passed away a few years ago. I purchased this car last year and have used my network of vendors and friends to procure original pieces that were missing and misplaced over the last 39 years. The car is now complete.
The car runs great, handles great, shifts great and is tight and right. WATCH THE VIDEO: See the product in action. >

What follows is a list of NEW and NOS parts:
Complete stainless steel exhaust system with hangers/gaskets/hardware, front shock absorbers, rear shock absorbers, shock links, drive shaft assembly, front springs, rear springs, front wheel bearings, rear wheel bearings, front and rear brake shoes, all brake springs and hardware, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, suspension bushings, suspension rubbers, front "A" arm pivots/pins/seals, tie rod ends, bellows rubbers, pedal shaft bushings, engine mounts, suspension hardware, points, condenser, rotor, plugs, hoses, belt, correct clamps as well as many more parts. The cost of these parts alone exceeds the first bid amount.
The radiator has been flushed and tested and is excellent with no fin damage. The carburetors are professionally rebuilt with re-bushed shafts. Valve clearances have been set as well as point gap, plug gap and ignition timing. Oil and filter changed with ZDDPaddative.I have assembled the suspension and installed the drive line so that the car can be driven to test differential and transmission. They are both excellent. I got it as a bare frame and bins of parts. The brake master cylinder and piping is not connected. The hand brake is fully functional and the brake drums and hubs are excellent. The left side rear axle shows signs of a slight twist at the splines. The other is perfect. The fuel lines are not installed or connected. I have been running it with a one gallon jug in the tool box and a battery pack. Noneof the control cables or gauges are connected.
The engine runs great and can even be started with the hand crank. It runs cool and smooth. No smoke with great power and oil pressure hot and cold. The fuel tank HAS NO RUST except some light color. It was stored dry but has some light varnish flaking in it. I pulled the end panels and there is no rust where the felt pads sit. This is a common area of rust. The wheels are strong and straight with good splines and spokes. Car comes with spare tire and a second spare. Also included is an original jack with extensions and bar.
Convertible top is included but there are no side curtains. The louvered access panels for the engine bay side panels are missing but are available from Moss Motors or Abington Spares.
There is rust through on each rocker as shown in the pictures. There is some rust in the rear wheel houses that is shown in the pictures. The frame was blasted and painted. It is excellent. The frame is straight and true and shows no crash damage. The fenders and doors are very nice with a lot of original paint and no rust. The bumpers and overiders are original not the shallow reproductions. The seat upholstery is original, (red), and is soft on the seats but shows rips and chew outs from mice at one time. The original interior is included but is rough. The original floor boards are very good. The tires hold air but are very old.
Some chrome has been replaced like the grille ribs and dash gauge octagons and surround and other bits and pieces. The car will not come with a battery or working fuel pump. One door hinge is missing but I have sourced a good used one that I will relate to the buyer.
My first MG restoration was a TF that I did 46 years ago. I have been a professional restorer for 40 years and am a MOSS MOTORS Distributor. I bought this with the intent of finishing it but things have changed for me and I must sell.
I WILL DELIVER THE CAR IN AN ENCLOSED TRAILER FOR FREE UP TO 125 MILES FROM ZIP CODE 06331Car is sold with bill of sale. CT is a non-title state. I will supply a previous registration (1978) and a bill of sale from previous owner's estate to me.
