1958 MGA Roadster 37,839 Original Miles, Factory Hardtop and Tools

Up for auction is my 1958 MGA roadster that has only 37,839 original miles since new. This wire wheel car was built in January 1958 and still has its original engine and gearbox (chassis # HDR4351022, Engine # 15GBU - H-40539).

I purchased this car several years ago from an elderly gentleman who bought the car for his wife as a wedding present in 1973. He bought it with only 32K and said he put only 5K miles on it because his wife never learned to drive a stick. It was always garaged and regularly maintained but used occasionally. It runs and drives great and issolid, straight andaccident free condition. The car comes with its original factory hardtop, complete factory tool kit (very hard to find), spare tire, tire clamp, starter crank, workshop manual and owners handbook and some period sales brochures.

Overall Condition: The car is registered in New York State, passed its annual New York State safety inspection and garaged and covered in Huntington, New York, on Long Island. The body panels are straight and rust free along with its solid and rust free frame. The car starts right up and runs strong all day long and drives like a dream. It is very smooth with great acceleration and good brakes. It was repainted its original Old English White color before it was sold to the prior owner and the paint is still presentable and car show worthy.

Mechanicals:The MGA runs and drives really good. You turn the key, hear the fuel pump tick, pull the choke out three clicks and the engine fires right up. It runs very strong and does not smoke or have any oil leaks. Once the engine warms up after a couple of minutes you push in the choke in and off you go. Engine idles around 800 rpms. Engine acceleration is smooth and sounds great. Oil pressure is strong at 60 psi and revs quickly to 6000 rpms without hesitation. Engine and gearbox are original to the car (engine # 15GBU - H-40539 HIGH Compression). Radiator is new and engine has been flushed and all hoses replaced along with a new water pump, thermostat and belt. Engine runs cool with no overheating at all…. Valve adjustment was completed and the engine runs silky smooth. The battery is new and charging system works fine.

The gearbox is the factory original 4 speed unit and all four gears and reverse work perfect without any noises or clunks. Shocks, steering, suspension and brakes are all in very good working order needing nothing. Clutch feels perfect.

The following are NEW parts:

·New gas tank

·New fuel lines and gas filter

·New fuel pump

·New Radiator, hoses and clamps and thermostat

·New water pump

·New fan belt

·New fuel and oil filters

·New plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser

·New Interstate battery

·New tonneau cover (Black Vinyl)

NeNew Air Filters

Body: The car was repainted its original Old English White color sometime in the early seventies and is in good condition. It has a good shine but has some blemishes as time marches on. The doors gaps are tight, engine bonnet and deck lid are straight as an arrow. Thewooden floors are solid and in good condition, outer sills, wheel wells and frame are all in good condition. The frame looks like it’s a 10 year old car – battery boxes are still in tack without anyrot. Glass is in good condition andrubber under windshield looks new.

Interior:The dash is 100% original with working gauges, button and knobs. Carpets have been replaced at some time.Seats are original leather!!!. It is a rare sight to see the original leather seats in a car that is 58 years old. This can attest for the cars low mileage in my opinion. I just love the patina of the seats and would not replace them!

The car is sold “AS IS” with no expressed or implied warrantee or guarantees. I am not a broker or a dealer so this is a private sale that is final. It is sold “WHERE IS” in Huntington, New York and if transported will be the cost of the buyer. I will make sure the car is safely loaded on the transport if desired.

I have set a reasonable reserve on the car. Hagerty Insurance Co has valued my MGA at $27,500. MGA’s are getting harder to find in unrestored condition like this car with so many factory options. MGA's are getting very sought after by collectors and car enthusiasts. The factory hardtop goes with the car and will not be sold separately! It is worth $2,500...FYI if sold separately.!!!

If you are a serious buyer and have any questions please call me at 631-339-3349 or contact me through E-Bay email by asking a question. I will sell to Europe/ worldwide or to anyone who appreciates this car for what it is. I have the right to end this auction early since I mightadvertise on other venues. I will request a $500 deposit within 48 hours and the balance shortly thereafter and will hold the car for you until payment and transportation has been made. Thanks for your interest and good luck with the auction. Dave.
