Some history

The person that I bought this car from said it sat in a barn for 20 years or more. He put on a new fuel tank, and new interior in the car and it appears he also put a new alternator on it.

It has some dents, only on the right side, I’m assuming from people propping things in the barn against the right side of the car. I have tried to show them in the pictures but they are very hard to take. There are about 3 larger type dents and some smaller door dings. The left side must have been against the side of the barn as it is straight. There is a great ‘paintless dent guy” in our area and I was going to get him to remove them but have not got to it yet. Also the right side door has some chips. But left door is very good.

This car does NOT have the door cracks under the wing vents as several other cars do.

The smog stuff has been removed.

The top looks excellent but I never use it. I noticed the bolts that mount the top to the body on one side of the top need some attention but it is bolted on firmly. I now know a way to fix this. (if I remember there are three bolts per side)

I have owned the car about 4 years. It is a very solid car no body rust except for the chips on the passenger door. Underneath looks good. It does leak a bit of oil but just the normal for a 1980 MGB. I have never had to add oil during the year and I usually change oil once per year.

The things I have done.

New fuel tank float and sending unit.

New retractable seat/shoulder belts.

New wood steering wheel. I still have the old one but I think it is bent trying to get it off.

Newer tires and Rostyle wheels. I still have the old Rostyle set that go with the car but some are rusty and tires are not that good.

New 4 way flasher.

Sourced a jack and spare tire.

Also have visors but did not put them on.

Last year I was having a problem with the car quitting. So we put on a new electric fuel pump, old one is still in place, new rubber fuel lines, but left the metal ones as they tested good.

I was still having a problem so put a new carburetor on it and that fixed it. It runs much better and starts very easy. It has a 2 barrel Weber on it.

I am not listing mileage as someone told me the speedometer has been replaced. Although I saw a 1979 MGB with the same speedometer.

The only thing I know of that does not work is the clock. I have never used the heater so I don’t know how it works either.

I require $500 PayPal deposit within 24 hours of end of sale.

Don’t ask the reserve as Ebay says not to reveal it and I don’t.

Car is located in central Illinois. You could drive it home but as it is not a “overdrive equipped car” I would recommend a trailer for any distance.

I will work with any shipper.

I have tried my best to represent the car but I may have forgot something so please ask.
