1971 Mercury Other

You are looking at a VERY RAREORIGINALFactory C-code 429 Cobra Jet1971 Mercury Cyclone GToptioned with a C-6 Automatic Transmission, ower Steering, ower Disc Brakes, ower Windows, ir Conditioning, ear Window Defroster, ucket Seatsand Center Console!! This carwhile needinga full restoration, sa ROCK SOLID California car and is an extremelyworthy candidate with it'sdesirable option list and Big Block Powertrain!!

This is a Super RARE car with just 58 Cyclone's being built with the C-code 429CJ Non Ram Air Engine and C6 Transmission. I am sure you could break it down even further based on it's long and unique option list but as one of 58 cars built that makes it rare enough in my book just as it sits.

This is an ORIGINAL 1971 Mercury CycloneGTthat has spent it's entire life inSouthern California until I found it and brought it back east. This car has it's original Blue and Yellow Six digit plates and spent it's early yearscruising the streets of So Cal as a very cooland stylishBig Inch MercuryMuscle Cruiser! This car was a driver for a number of years before beingput into long termstorage. Somewhere along the way the original engine and transmission were removed and separated from the car and a period correct 429 Thunder Jet and C-6 Transmission were installed in the mighty CJ Cyclone. The Cyclone GT ended up being parkedas a someday project and forgotten about while waiting forthe nextCycloneenthusiast to come along and restore this car to its former glory!!

This car was aCompany Lease Plan vehicle and ordered in theHome Office Reserve 84 DSO inP-code Medium Green Metallic witha matching Medium Ivy Green Houndstooth Cloth, reen Vinyl Topand Medium Green Houndstooth Cloth and Vinyl Bucket SeatInterior.

My father was a Ford Executive back in the day and we had Company Lease Plan Vehicles that we drove as part of the perks of my father's compensation package. He always ordered cars with the Biggest Engine and Loaded them down with options just like this car!! It really brought back some very cool memories when I got the Deluxe Marti Report and it confirmed the car'sCompany Lease Plan statusand its very cool option list.

This GT was furtherspec'd outwith the very strong optional C-code 429-4V 370hp Non Ram Air Cobra Jet Engine,C-6 Automatic Transmission, nd a 9 inch 31 Spline Nodular 3.25 Traction-Lok rear end!

This '71 CycloneGT waswell equipped and per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows:
429-4V 370HP CJ V-8 Engine C-6Automatic Transmission3.259 inch Traction-Lok RearMedium Green Metallic Exterior PaintMedium IvyGreen VinylBucket SeatsCenter ConsoleG70-14 Wide Oval Belted Raised White LetterTiresAir ConditioningElectric ClockVisibility GroupPower SteeringPower Disc BrakesAM-FM StereoRadioElectric Rear Window DefrosterDeluxe Belts/Warning LightPower Side WindwosTinted GlassTrim Rings and Hub Caps
The original C-code 429-4V Cobra Jet Engine and C6 Transmissionhave gone MIA and they have been replaced with a period correct 429-4V 360HP Thunder Jet engine and C6 Transmission. They have just been placed in the engine bay and never connected. So as it sitsthe car does not run and that is pretty muchwhere the project stalled.
The bullet proof 3.25 geared 9 inch31 Spline Nodular Traction-Lok brings up the rear andis theoriginal rear endto the car.
Thecar looks to have had one repaint over the original Medium Green paint and then the primer you see on it now. It had a 1/4 section done way back in the day on the driver's 1/4 and it will need to be redone as it was old school back in the day body shop work and not the kind of restoration work that is done today.
The Body on theCyclone whilecertainly not perfectis actuallya very solid and it'sSouthern California roots show in this car's solidity. The Hood,Fenders, oors, and 1/4's are allvery decent on the car.The Frame Rails, ockers, tc. are all So Cal ROCK solid on this car.
The Grille was damaged in shipment, ut I do have the '71 Gunsight and grille pieces to go with the car. I also have most of the body side moldings as well but they are not perfect. I have a nice replacement decklid as well. You will need parts and pieces for this car but it is a super solid platform to start with!!There is a small rust hole on each of the front fenders where it looks like the drain clogged and they held some water and some very minor rust in the very lower corner of the 1/4 panels, ut it really is nothing compared to what you see here in the East. The trunk drops on both sides are nice on the car as is the inner trunk area itself. The Floor panshave some surface rust on them, ut overall are rock solid as you would expect from a Southern California car.
While certainly not perfect; this is probably a 95% rust free car; the rust repair that does need to be done is minimal and strictly cosmetic. The fact that the car remainedin Southern Californiaall these years with their mild climate; it helped to preserve the bones on this car so it could live to fight another day.
TheBucket Seat Interior for the most part is all there to include its correct and original '71 only molded door panels. While it does show the years of wear and tear; most all of the pieces seem to be serviceable/restorable pieces. The original AM-FM radioas is the Optional Gauge Dash with Tachometer. Car retains its original Rim Blow Steering wheel. The dash is original and uncut. Car will need carpet and a headliner.
The car rolls on an original set of 15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels; but I do have access to an original set of 14x7 Steel Wheels with Trims and Hub Caps as the car had originally if the buyer desires those instead
This would be a perfect donor car is you have a 429 Cobra Jet drivetrain or another Cyclone Rust Bucket that this Super Solid Southern California Cyclone would make the perfect fix for!!
I do have several other '70-'71 Cyclone's that I will be auctioning off soon to include GT's and Spoiler's withboth C and J code enginesto include 3 4-speed cars. I also have multiple Small Block Cyclone GT Parts Cars available as well if someone wanted to make a package deal.
Please be realistic in your expectations of this car as a 45+ year old project car that has been beat up and knocked around a bit needing complete restoration to include body work, echanical work, nd cosmetic reconditioning.
Overall this is a very decent original 1971 CycloneGT witha Big Block Pedigree that is a solid restoration candidate. There are lots of picked over rusted out carcasses out there; but decent do-able cars such as this that are not rusted to death do not come along very often. Especially one's with an option list like this one has!! If you have been looking for a Big Block Cyclone GT to restore then don't hesitate on this one; as is it may be sometime before another suitable restoration candidate such as this comes along again!
The state of Georgia does not require titles on pre-1986 vehicles; the state issues a Transferrable Registration that is the ownership document of record and is the equivalent of a title when transferring the vehicle. With reciprocating titling laws in other states where older vehicles are required to be titled; this ownership document will convert to a title in your state. Other states that have this same titling process on older vehicles to include Alabama, ew York, nd Connecticut to name a few.
I have a clean clear transferrable Georgia State Registration in my name for this vehicle and with it and a bill of sale it will convey title in your state or municipality.
