Description:

1950 Mercury Other M74

Very unique 1950 suicide door Mercury lead sled. I have owned this car since 2008 after pulling it out of a barn that suffered a roof collapse.
Exterior:The car has been professionally chopped 3 1/2” in the front and 6” in the rear. All metal. The shop closed 80% through the chop so welding needs to be finished on the passenger side. The driver’s side is done and bodywork was started. The front windshield will still accept flat glass, and the rear window opening still accepts the factory rear window (new seal included). These are the two trickiest and often fumbled areas of a chop. Doors open and close smoothly and everything is square and plumb. Both outer rockers have been replaced. The passenger side rocker needs welding finished The only other rust was on the front rear and rear front dog legs which both have been patched with metal. The frame is in excellent condition.
Interior:The floors are excellent. One side of the sheet metal where the rear seat bottom rests has been replaced. The trunk floor needs work by both outer extensions and spare tire well.
Mechanical:The original flathead and manual transmission are long gone. Currently no drivetrain is installed or included. Brand new Fatman Suspension front lowering springs, shocks and front disc brake conversion installed.
Summary:I have all the parts for this car in boxes (not exactly organized, but all there). When I rescued the car it was a mouse motel, so anything with fabric was destroyed. These cars are amazingly simple and very flexible when it comes to customizing. Consider this a blank canvas for you to create your one-off masterpiece! Clean Massachusetts title in my name. These are getting increasingly difficult to find, so don’t let this one get away.
