1977 Mercury Marquis Brougham. Runs & Drives. Rust-free. 400 cubic inch Cleveland engine. Starts & Runs Good.Transmission shifts smooth. The brake system has been completely rebuilt. Brand new tires.
No title. But, in Georgia and in some other states you can get a license plate with a "Bill of Sale" only on cars that are 25 years or older.
Has a valve cover leak on the right-side. It's not bad. Doesn't leave any spots in the driveway, but when you drive it for a while it will drip a little oil onto the exhaust manifold. If it sets up for a week, it will smoke a little when you first start it. Needs new valve seals.
Needs new shocks.
Original paint. Has some scratches and small dents, with a little surface rust in those areas, but the car has never been in a significant accident.
All chrome is there and in good condition. Rear bumper does have some pitting. Missing the spring loaded hood emblem. Includes two (2) of the original hubcaps. (You can find replacements on ebay for about $25 each.) Includes the fender skirts; but, I think it looks better without the hubcaps and fender skirts.
The headlight covers (which operate hydraulically) do not open and close. Actually, they do open and close, but they won't stay closed when the lights are off. The hood latch cable release on the inside is broken. It will only latch from the secondary latch at the hood. (The easiest thing would be to install some hood pins.)
The drivers side power window motor has the teeth on the plastic gear stripped off. The motor works and you can raise and lower the window by hand. You can buy a rebuild kit for the motor that includes a new gear. The drivers side door card was removed by a prior owner to repair the motor and neither he nor I finished it. The passenger side is fine.
The leather seats are in good shape except for the driver's side needs some repair. The dashpad and the headliner needs replacement. The driver's side carpet is torn up. I think it could be recovered in that area only.
The trunk is clean with the original bumper jack and lug wrench. The spare tire has never been on the road.
I bought this car from an elderly neighbor for $400. I have spent another $800 on it since I bought it. I'm hoping that I can at least get my money back on it and maybe even a couple of hundred dollars extra. This is a good car for someone to enter the old car hobby cheap. It's just that I need a better truck more than I need this car.
I would urge anyone who is considering bidding to message me and set up a time to come look at the car. It has a current license and insurance on the car and I can take you for a ride in it.
If you live within 100 miles of Smyrna, GA and you are the successful bidder, then I would not be afraid for you to drive it home. I would not recommend that you get on the interstates until you get the hood more securely fastened.
