1957 Mercury Monterey Monterey

1957 Mercury Monterey Convertible Parts Car or Restore. Where can you buy another one?My 1st car in 1962 was a 1957 Mercury Monterey Convertible. When I bought this car the idea was either restore or modernize with a high performance motor and transmission, modern brakes andsteering to be a Cruise in or weekend driver! Due to a deteriorating back issue at age 71 I realize this is never going to happen so someone else should have the opportunity to bring the car back to glory. This will be an ambitious restoration. I have done nothing to this car you see it exactly how I bought it. Someone before me, I don't know who appears tohave had some professional work done to the body. Floors are solid throughout, I believe replaced. There appears to be new metal in the quarter panels you can see in the trunk where these were installed, welded in and the exterior is very straight looking. I see no rust on the body. The header bow for the top assembly will need metal repair work from rust and a couple of the bows need some straightening butthe Top mechanism does fold up and down by hand. Doors open and shut nicely, no sagging. I have no knowledge as to the condition of the motor and transmission or any components to the car. Motor is just sitting in place and the radiator is just sitting in place. Drive shaft is in the trunk. No Brakes! You cannot drive this car. It rolls and steers for loading. You will need a winch.
Missing partsare Gas Tank, Trunk Latch, Hood Latch, Window crank handles, Door Locks, Keys, sunvisorsand I am sure other items. If you don't see in the photos don't assume it is with the car. The previous owner removed and lost the Vin Tag when the car was painted but I see the reproduction on Ebay at very reasonable prices and can have the serial number added if you require one.plus other items I am not sure of since I never did anything with the car: Buyer is responsible for inspection prior to purchase.
