Looking for a lead sled that won’t leave you out of touch with the 21st century? MotoeXotica Classic Cars has a solution in this incredible 1950 Chopped Top Mercury Coupe Custom with all the old school hot rod style but updated with tons of modern conveniences!
Finished in a black exterior that is in very good overall condition with some minor blemishes visible upon close inspection of the trunk lid. The car’s windows are clear and intact. This Mercury rolls on five-spoke Forte wheels surrounded by Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires, sized 225/35ZR20.
Chopped and lowered, all of the car’s body panels are solid and straight, the trunk with a pair of JL 10-inch speakers, is in very good order and the engine bay is very tidy with many chromed and other metallic silver pieces. This car has no windshield wipers but the chrome bumpers look great.
Under that dual vented hood is a 396 CID V-8 big block engine with dual electric cooling fans and buttoned to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include air conditioning, power steering, power windows, power front seat and power brakes
This Merc’s interior has been almost completely redone. The cream-colored leather front bucket seats with black piping resemble thrones and look excellent. The matching leather rear bench seat is a cozy place to spend time and offers a fold-down armrest, plus a covered center storage compartment. The black carpet looks great and the cream-colored headliner looks great, too. The original instrument panel has been replaced with a Dakota Digital Dash, Series 3. There is a three-spoke, aftermarket steering wheel embossed with an image of the Roman god, Mercury, on the hub and a tilt column. The door panels match the seats and look nifty. For safety and convenience, there is a forward-facing camera as well as two small ones mounted in the doors that replace traditional sideview mirrors.
Instead of a simple car stereo, this Mercury features an Alpine NVD-A801 vehicle hub entertainment system with several accessories – DVD player and satellite radio plus a stalk-mounted remote control on the center console, which also has the requisite dual cupholders. The car has two screens, one for those in front and another for the neighbors, kids or grandkids who are lucky enough to ride in back to get ice cream, see a movie or take a day trip. The antennas are mounted in the rear window. Car features keyless entry and an alarm system as well.
Documentation includes guides and instruction books for vehicle hub and other entertainment accessories.
Competition to this Mercury in 1950 included Buick’s Series 40 Special Jetback Coupe, DeSoto’s Deluxe Club Coupe, Hudson’s Pacemaker Deluxe Club Coupe, Nash’s Ambassador Super Club Coupe and Oldsmobile’s Futuramic 76 De Luxe Club Coupe.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 98,989 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
