Description:

1964 Mercury Comet 2 door

3 day auction with no reserve please bid to own not just to win! there is time and fees involved and eBay does not credit me for nonpaying winners Hi you are looking at a original 1964 Mercury Caliente 289 K cod, cyclone clone. This car was always a California car built in Los Angeles and remained here the rest of its life, this car is really solid with its original rust free floors and inner apron, original radiator support no major accidents..The body is straight the paint is shiny but shows some wear on the passenger door paint also shows some slight waves towards the rear wheel wells.. But still looks Good! The rear chrome bumper tail light lenses and rear molding are in excellent shape. The front bumper is a fiberglass light weight looks good... Keep in mind it looks like a drag car but its a street hot rod car with lots of power...Front grill, headlight bezels, and trim are in excellent shape as well.... 289 was completely rebuilt from oil pan to carburetor, sounds and runs excellent it's been upgraded with hooker headers and complete exhaust plenty of power with it's Direct ram air hood.. The transmission is a rebuilt C4 shifts good in all three gears.. The rear end is a 9 inch 389 Detroit locker... It's been upgraded with power brakes... Interior has a rear rollbar with attached seatbelts, carpet, door/Side panels. headliner, seats, dash pad, are all in excellent shape no need for any replacement..The gentleman that I purchased this Comet from put some aluminum on the dash with modern gauges but if you wanted to go back to the original gauge cluster it would fit right in.. The original glove box is intact the aluminum that you see is just screwed in like the one that is covering the gauge cluster.. very easy fix however at some point it appears that they might've had a pull out radio system in the original radio's compartment. So this is the only 1964 Comet Caliente with the sequential Vin number starting with a one a factory error, I guess the person that was working at the factory stamped the wrong number then realize he made a mistake and put The correct sequential on top.. The door tag matches with the correct Vin .... It even comes with its original build sheet, I find it very interesting to have a piece of mistaken history! Overall if you're looking for a nice clean street rod that looks, drives and sounds good, and most importantly one that is solid I recommend this one to you.. If you have any questions please call me at 818-879-3764 you can ask for David I have the right to in this auction at anytime thank you and happy bidding....
