1966 Mercury MontereyUp for No Reserve Auction is my 1966 Mercury Monterey 2 Door Coupe. Clean North Carolina Title in my name. I purchased from a seller in Tennessee anddrove this baby home to North Carolina without issue.
This is an original car with the exception of the off set Weld Racing Aluminum Wheels, Aluminum Radiator and a repaint in the original Sandstone - Gold color which was done many years ago although I do not know exactly how long ago.
Original 390 2V engine and 3 Speed Automatic Transmission. Power Steering. Runs and drives great. Dual exhaust purrs and growls but is not disturbingly loud, just has a really nice low and deep sound. Has lots of power and packs a punch cruising very nicely on the highway. Automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Brakes work properly. The tires are in very good condition with good tread.Odometer (EXEMPT) reads 17,010.3 at time of listing although has most likely turned over.
A joy to drive and always gets looks and compliments everywhere it goes.
Everything works on the car with the exception of the horn and the radio. All gauges and gauge lights function, as well as exterior lights (head lights, tail lights, brake lights, hazards).
The body is extremely straight but does have some rust bubbles and minor skim coat cracking from old body work in the lower rear quarter panels. That being said, the car looks great as is, but is also a great candidate for restoring.
The trunk pan has some surface oxidation but is in solid condition. The driver floor pan has rusted through and this sale will include a replacement floor pan for installation. The front carpet on the driver side is also worn. The rest of the floor and carpet is in good condition.
The front and rear chrome bumpers are in very nice condition as is all of the stainless trim. There is some chrome pitting on the front grille, door handles and tail lights.
The interior is in decent condition considering age. It is all original and some seams have come apart as shown in the photos. Same with the headliner. No tears but a couple of the seams have lost thread. The dash has a couple of small cracks but not terrible.
All of the glass is in excellent condition. All 4 windows roll down and up easily.
Please review the photos as part of the description. This is not a show car. It is a good driver quality condition car that you can immediately enjoy while you restore should you choose to.
Winner/Buyer is responsible for pick up and shipping costs. I do have a great transport guy who works mostly the east coast. Best service best prices. I can request a quote with your zip code if you are interested and get you in touch with him.
$500 Paypal deposit due immediately at end of auction. Remaining balance to be paid via Bank to Bank Wire Transfer or Cash in Person. Payment must clear before the car can be picked up.
Please, ask questions prior to bidding. Questions are encouraged and will be answered promptly.
Thanks for viewing and good luck!
