1970 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3. The World's Fastest Sedan, in it's day. This one presents as a very honest example as it has not had any modifications and was stored indoors for the past 25 years. It was painted sometime before the current owner acquired the car and so it shows the weak points. He bought the car 25 years ago with the intention of restoring it. It has traveled less than 100 miles in that time. As the owner is now preparing to retire, a number of cars need to move on.There is some through rust in the rear quarters behind the wheels. Minor rust elsewhere but no indication of rust in the rockers or undercarriage. The engine starts and runs fine and cool with good oil pressure. The front suspension has a slow leak and after sitting for a few days, it sinks. It comes back up in a minute or two after starting up. That needs to be corrected. There is also a small leak in the power steering and that too should be repaired. The interior leather is in very good condition except for the top of the back seat and a small area on the front passenger seat at the welting. The wood around the doors is in poor condition on a couple of the doors. The rest of the wood is in very good condition. The chrome is generally in very good shape. There is a ripple in the front bumper and a couple of dings in the headlamp surround and grille. The door seals could stand to be replaced but for an unmolested 50 year old MB, this is a very nice example. With attention to the aforementioned items, this would be an excellent driver as well as a manageable restoration candidate. Based on the recent activity on 6.3's they are quickly rising in value and we have set a very reasonable reserve.

Sorry, just realized I put this in as a 1970 but it is actually a 1971.
