1986 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300SDL

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 70+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions at the bottom of each listing, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL. I would rate the exterior of this old Merc to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age. As you can see, this is a good looking sedan. It is finished in Burgundy over Tan leather interior, which is a great color combination. You can tell that this Mercedes has been repainted, in the past, but is it presentable...it just doesn't have that perfectly smooth finish that would have come from the factory. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors, and trunk all open and close easily. All of the trim and cladding is present and shows well. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in a matching set of Michelin's with average tread all around. Even the power antenna mast still works. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this old Merc came in. I would rate the interior of this 300SDL to also be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean, too, with just one crack showing on the dash. The carpets show well for their age and are full looking, throughout the interior. The wood veneers also show well for their age. The power windows, locks, seats, mirrors, and sunroof all work properly. The original Becker radio has been upgraded with an aftermarket unit that features both CD and Cassette, in dash. The display doesn't work, but I've figured out enough of the buttons to confirm that the speakers all still sound good. The automatic climate control appears to be working properly. It's a little chilly to get a good read on how effective the A/C is at cooling, but I can tell you that the heater works great. Pride in ownership shows throughout this old Benz as the trunk houses a car cover. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully. Mechanically, this 300SDL appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 3.0L inline six cylinder turbo diesel engine starts easily and runs smoothly. Her road manners are good, for a 35 year old car. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. Aside from an ABS light that stays on, there are no idiot lights on. The turbodiesel engine makes good power and this giant road yacht easily cruises at 70-80 mph on the highway. As you'd expect from a car of this age, it's not going to drive or behave like a newer car. I'm sure it could use a few things to run its best, but it's still running and going strong. The odometer stopped working at 284k miles...God knows how long ago, haha. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts without slipping. Reverse gear is strong, too. If you're looking to snag up old diesels before there are no more to be had, this old Benz deserves a good look. I've personally put the last 100 miles on this Mercedes and it drives like a champ. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
