1967 250SL True Survivor "California Coupe"

Price: US $79,900.00 Item location: Linwood, New Jersey, United States
Description:

1967 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class California Coupe

I am listing this for a friend . If interested at the right number, I will put you in contact with him. The vehicle is garaged in Southern NJ.
Based on his explanation to me, this is what they called the "California Coupe" Out of 5196 250 SL's 33% were sold in the US and about 10% of total production were these convertible top delete "California Coupes" so it's estimated that this is 1 of 520. This model does have the hard top, no provisions for the convertible and a folding jump seat (O.E.M )
If you are familiar with these then you know as with German cars from the 60's and especially these, they are notorious for rust. That said; so many of the "restored" cars for sale, with out proper docs detailing the restoration, they're a crap shoot and you could end up spending half of what the car cost to do it over properly. Also a mechanical restoration if not done properly could also be a huge liability in itself.
That's the beauty of a "survivor". You see exactly what your getting and a claimed never apart drivetrain and also all components claim to be matching #'s. Besides not being apart, it runs as it did in 1967, never fails to start, sounds perfect and blows no smoke, goes down the road straight and smooth, brakes as it should .
We had this on my lift today so these pictures are current and accurate and I would consider this a true survivor. Other than one claimed repaint (original dark red) and the proper German weave carpet replaced, the remainder of the vehicle is claimed to be 100% original and after inspecting it I see no reason not to believe this. The vehicle still shows very well with no signs of previous panel replacement, BONDO popping out, anything welded, ie; patch panels, floor pans ......
My opinion is: the beauty of this car is what I consider "survivor" status in that it's never been apart nor restored. What's been done was in excess of 2 decades ago and if there were anything of repairs, they'd be showing by now.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I loaded the max amount of pics. Have more if you request.
