Precious Metal Automotive was a Mercedes-only restoration and brokerage company founded by Rich Splaine, long-time Mercedes collector and charter member of the International 190SL club. He was often privileged to serve as judge and chief concours judge at 190SL Club annual meets. Until his retirement, Rich and Precious Metal Automotive restored 75 190SL's, plus numerous Ponton, W113, W198, W189, W186, and other vintage Mercedes cars. This record number of 190SL restorations by one company may still stand!
This car was recently acquired by Rich from his old customer and has been thoroughly gone over with upgrades and adjustments as necessary to insure proper appearance and driveability. The original Solex carbs are in excellent working order as are all other systems.
