Up forauction is an absolutely beautiful 1986 Mercedes 560SL Convertible with only 93,670 original miles. This car sold new at Mervis Motors Mercedes ofPittsburgh, PA on February 19, 1986 and remained in Pennsylvania until 2003 when the car was brought to Tempe, AZ. In the mid 2000s the car was brought to the Pacific Northwest where it has remained ever since.
This interior of this car is in near perfectcondition. The original leather seat upholstery does not show any signs of major wear, cracking or splitting of any seams. The carpets are stain-free without any tears orseparations of the binding. Thedash is in excellent shape and all of the instrument knobs are intact. The wood trim is free of cracking and looks as new. Thesteering wheel is not faded and does notshow any wear. The blue dash pad does have several hairline cracks, but is in excellentcondition otherwise. All of the interior options arefunctioning including the clock, cruise control, power antenna, power windows, power locks, and A/C. The A/C system has been converted to R-134-A refrigerant and blows cold. An aftermarket Pioneer radio with bluetooth has been installed with a Mercedes adaptor, so all ofthe factory original wiring remains intact behind the dash without any cutting or splicing. Theoriginal windshield with thefactory Mercedes sticker in the lowerpassenger corner remains in the car with just one rock chip on the driver's side. The spare tire compartment is free of any rust or corrosion and has all of theoriginal grey paint inside it.
The body of this car is incredibly straight without even the slightest ding or dent. All of the body gaps are even and the doors, hood and trunk open and close like a new car. All of the original trim shows incredibly well and does not have any pitting on the bumpers or other chrome pieces. The paint shows very well and isbelieved to be mostly original. The plastictaillights are very clear and free of any cracking or fading. The front parking lights and plastic surround pieces are in excellent shape as well. The car is entirely rust free and solid with the exception of a quarter inch bubble in the paint on the lower part of the driver's front fender where it meets the rocker panel. Other than this area, the body is 100% rust free.
The original hardtop is perfect without any dings or dents. The headlinerwithin the hardtop is flawless as well. Theoriginalsoft top is inexcellentcondition aside from a 4 inch slit in the fabric in the front on the driver's side. The slit has been repaired by an upholstery shop with an adhesive patch onthe inside. The plastic rear window is very clearwithout any fading.
This 560SL runs as well as it looks. The big V8 has tons of torque and runs very smoothly. The transmission shifts smoothly. The brakes are firm and the ride quality is very smooth. The original chrome wheels remain on the car and are free of any curbing.
Thiscar is very well documented and still has almost all of the original literature from new. Theoriginal owner's manual, maintenance booklet,1986 limited warranty booklet, Mercedes pre-owned warranty booklet, Mercedes roadsideassistance pamphlet, cruise control information card, climate control information card and alug bolt information card allremain in the car. Theoriginal salesman's business card along with an original Mercedes data card areincluded as well. Themaintenance booklet has services logged from April 1, 1986 with 1,108 miles all the way until April 27, 2003 with 62,038 miles. All of theoriginal Mercedes tools including theremovable top tools remain with the car in excellentcondition with absolutely zero rust or pitting and still remain inthe original red Mercedes bag. The original spare tire and wheelremain in the trunk with the original jack as well. Two sets of original keys will be included.
This is truly an excellent example of one of thefinal years of this iconic Mercedes convertible body style and will surely not disappoint.
