1990 Mercedes-Benz L1319

1990 Mercedes Benz L1319 cab and chassis. This is a rare US market Kurzhauber "short bonnet" truck. It was imported and sold by Hackney and Sons in Independence, KS, VIN # IMBZB33A6MN882087 with a date of production 10/1990. The 160 horsepower 5.7 liter displacement OM352 diesel engine is famed for torque and longevity, and was Mercedes first direct injected diesel engine. The engine starts perfectly even after sitting long periods of time, oil pressure jumps to maximum instantly, and hums along in a pleasing note. It is coupled to an Allison transmission. The reverse/first engagement is not working properly, it will grind and kick out of these gears. Possibly an adjustment issue, we did not dig deeper into this. Second through fifth shift and engage properly with no noise or problems. It starts off in 2nd gear with no problems. The weight rating is 30,000 pounds GVWR, and is equipped with properly working air brakes with a gauge and indicator in the dash. This was formerly a beer truck, and has had the body removed leaving a cab and chassis and no rear bumper or lights. Has a three section drive shaft that could be easily shortened and the chassis shortened to shorter lengths. 120,960 actual miles on working odometer. Has insurance paperwork where it was in service at least as late as 2013. German Auto Tech is a licensed Arkansas dealer, and has a clear title to this truck.
