Description:

1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SE SE

I purchased this 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SElast year from the original owner's estate. A good running car in need of some cosmetics but very solid and original. The odometer shows 60K miles but the true mileage is most likely 160K. Becker radio and AC that blows cold.
Believed to be a one owner California car from new, the paint is an older repaint that presents well but shows signs of checking and several scratches. The left rear tail light lens is cracked, the grill has a dent in the center bar, and the chrome is dull and shows some surface rust on the top of the front bumper. Some rust appears on the lower passenger side front fender. Wear on paint at top of left rear fender.Inside, the seats look good but the wood on the top of the dashboard is dry and delaminated on one end (see photo) and the heater control knobs are broken. The sunroof motor works but the sunroof only drops down and does not slide. (possibly just needs to be lubricated from lack of use) Power door locks don't always work. May be vacum leak in system.Mechanically in stock condition, it runs and drives well, shifts smoothly and stops quickly. Drives like a 1972 Mercedes Benz should. I've owned several of these W108 series Benz over the years and still have a 4.5.As prices of convertibles and coupes continue to rise, these sedans are sure to follow.
A solid vintage Mercedes that can be driven while improvements are made. Low Reserve and low BIN.
