1967 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series --

The W111 chassis from Mercedes Benz was a revolutionary vehicle in many ways. A due update to the Ponton, these were the LAST of the Mercedes Hand-Built cars and have become highly desirable for many of their groundbreaking and timelessly beautiful attributes. An upgraded 2,496cc inline 6 cylinder engine featuring Bosch mechanical fuel injection was good for 150bhp and said to move the big cab to 120mph with the manual box. Many may not be aware that Mercedes Benz pioneered the first e...ver front and rear "crumple zones" with the W111 - a feature that has since become mandatory for all automobiles. Along with excellent visibility and 3-point seat belts, these cars were designed around passenger safety as well as comfort.Offered HereWe are pleased to present this lovely Mercedes Cabriolet as a street ready classic with some recent maintenance. During the modest 3-year production run, this is one of only 954 Cabriolets built - the lowest sum of all the W111 cars. This particular car becomes rarer still with the desirable 4-speed, fully synchronized manual gearbox which was equipped in roughly 25% of the total run. The previous ownership in Colorado spanned over two decades and they report that, upon their purchase (from a long-standing Colorado dealership), they were informed that the car had come from California and that the mileage was stated as correct.Believed original, the scant 56,499 miles -and a lifetime in the dry American west- well represents the overall condition of the car. Let's start at the bottom: As evidenced in photos, the chassis is remarkably free of corrosion and all hard-points can be seen intact and in excellent condition. Sitting above the solid underpinnings, the beautifully straight body displays panel fit as per factory, with paint (redone in the original "Grey Beige" color code) and bright-work devoid of significant imperfections. With the doors open and top down the interior won't disappoint either: a highly original example in good condition that represents the vintage with a patina that emphasizes the quality of the German auto-maker. Sitting on fresh tires, this car has recently benefited from new shift bushings, pinion seal, shocks, rear axle compensator, battery and a tune-up. A recommended replacement of the canvass top and carpets will make this elegant beauty truly shine. As an example of well preserved -and otherwise represented- originality, this rare Cab is perfect for a weekend pleasure cruise to the local meet. We are eager to address all of your questions.
