MERCEDES 280 SL - 1970 - 53400 MILES - 2 OWNERS - CALIFORNIA CAR
Selling my 1970 Mercedes 280sl. As the photos show it in great condition. The Fenders are original and have the original stamps on them. Original Radio. Original engine. Original Interior. Matching numbers for all the car. I have gradually restored it and have 20 000 dollars of receipts scanned. The car runs perfectly you will not have one single issue. I have recently changed the transmission, shock absorbers and other pieces. I have 9000 dollars of mechanical pieces fixed to have a perfect working car that I use everyday to go to work. The car has been serviced and repaired by Beverly Laurel Automotive on Wilcox in Los Angeles. If you need any additional information on the car they will be more than happy to go through it with you and testify that the car is perfect. They are specialized in old Mercedes cars. The cosmetic work such as the soft top, the refinish of the wood, and so on has been done by a garage called Thomas Top Shop again specialized in vintage cars. The Color is original. The back has been completely painted as there was a small scratch on the left side wing. We used the insurance to repaint the back of the car.The paint in general is in excellent condition. There are few chips on the passenger door extremity and a few chips on the extremity of the hood. But nothing major. You really have to look close to see it. In general the paint is perfect and shiny as you can see on the photos and this is without even polishing it. The inside is in great condition. One small tear on the passenger seat. Original interior seats and mats. I added a trunk mat, a wheel cover and a mercedes tool kit. It comes with the Hard top. The hard top needs to be restored I feel compared to the rest of the car. It has been sitting and not used so to be honest I feel it needs some TLC. The wood around the window has been restored as I did it at the same time of the rest. We refinished all the wood as the sun damaged it. Fixed the clock as it wasnt working anymore, changed the chrome on the steps of the doors as they were scratched after 48 years of people coming in out of the car, added the original gas cap at the back, installed many chrome pieces that with time started to be slightly damaged.Again I have all the invoices. The only piece not working is the AC. I didn't fix it (500 dollars) as I always have the top down. Very rare for 280sls to have the AC. I am selling the car simply because my wife and I have bought a new house and the priority is there. Sadly. I can guarantee the car no problem if needs as I am certain that it won't have any issues and you will be pleased.
Let me know if you need any other additional information I would be more than happy to answer.
Thanks !
