1992 Mercedes-Benz 600-Series S Class

A Spectacular find, this all original 1992 Mercedes Benz 600 SEL was the absolute flagship of the Mercedes Benz line and was a new introduction (for US delivery) in the Mercedes Benz line up for 1992. Making this car truly special is the fact that it had one long term, caring owner who was Dr. Alejandro Zaffaroni. To those in the biotech community, he a giant among men. Dr. Zaffaroni was a serial entrepreneur who founded many companies that had revolutionary discoveries in Silicon Valley. Taking a few moments to Google his profile will be well worth it, as his many accomplishments are listed there. He is responsible for creating or co-creating some of the treatments that are today a staple in many peoples lives including the nico-derm patch for smokers, a drug to treat glaucoma and the birth control pill, among many others. His company that he founded which many of these pioneering drugs were created was sold to Johnson and Johnson for 10,5 Billion dollars in 2001. Mr Zaffaroni was a long time resident of the Uber wealthy community of Atherton, which is the backdrop against which this Mercedes Benz 600 must be placed. It resided in the garage there from day one in 1992 until his widow decided to part with the car in 2015. It is obvious the car was garage kept as the paint is still incredibly shiny and without any dull or faded spots. There are a few fine scratches and a crease right above the passenger front fender in the sheet metal where I suspect Dr. Zaffaroni may have misjudged his turning radius, but the paintwork overall is still far too nice to even contemplate a paint job anytime soon. The paint color is Pearl Black. The leather seating n the interior also shows a remarkable car as does the entire cabin. There are no rips or tears to be found, just a very supple and comfortable seating environment. The wood is dark and glossy and the headliner is perfect, as is the dash. Everything on this car now works. I had several of the vacuum pumps in the trunk replaced and the power antenna rebuilt at a cost of $350 for the antenna alone. Otherwise, the car needs nothing at this time and runs beautifully. No lights are on. There is so much one could say about this beautiful car, so I definitely encourage inquiries and if possible, a test drive that I would be happy to arrange. Prior to my acquiring the car, I was told it did not pass the intense smog check II and that the culprit is likely either a oxygen sensor or a cat converter. I personally don't which as I have never tried to smog it myself, however I did buy an oxygen sensor that is brand new and will transfer with the car.
