1989 Mercedes-Benz 190-Series

This beautiful 190E benz is one of the cleanest cars I've seen for it's age. Everything works, it smells good, it drives great, runs great, and looks great. All power windows work perfect, the power seats work perfect. The miles on this car are questionable. I say this because even though the title and the odometer match and they say "actual" the seats in the car are perfect. The carpet is perfect, the headliner is perfect. The seat belts don't even show much wear. The other clue is the plastic is missing from over the gauge cluster. This indicates to me that there is a good possibility there was an issue at some point with one or more of the gauges and so someone replaced the cluster with a high miles one. Unfortunately I believe they did so and then simply adopted the miles on the installed odometer. Of course that's just speculation but I think due to this circumstance someone out there in ebay land is about to get a lower miles car for a bargain.
I was very impressed with the handling of the car has and the quite smooth ride. Maybe that is just all mercedes benz cars, I don't know. I have very little experience with them but I learned a lot because of this one. The weird cam single wiper works perfect. It even has delay wiper function that works perfect. Washer fluid works too. The power antenna works perfectly when you turn on the radio it goes up just as it should. Heater controls work perfect. I'm not sure yet about the AC. It's been cold here so it's hard to test it.
The sunroof is the dual position type that both flips up in the back via one button and then slides all the way open via a second button. It also works perfectly.
The car is rust free and it appears to be all original paint, no body work can be detected anywhere. There is some paint missing from the body just below the left tail light. Looks like a small hit that caused the paint to crack and fall off but it's not rusted. Looks like it still has the barrier coat in tact. The bottom of the drivers door is beginning to get a little crusty but it's not through anywhere that I can tell. And I am speaking of the bottom lip up underneath by the weather seal strip, not the exterior of the door.
The trunk is clean and still has the spare tire and tools and I believe the jack but I will include pictures of that shortly.
The carpet is perfect. The interior is almost perfect, not one single tear anywhere in the seats or headliner. There are some scuffs on drivers door bottom that I believe can be cleaned off and the piller has a nick in covering but very minor. The exhaust has a hole in it pre-muffler so it's got a nice little exhaust note that it should not have. I did not fix it because it's all original and I don't want to take value away for those of you that one things bone OEM. If you want to trick the car out or restore it, that's up to you. I think it would make a great cosworth or wide body tribute car. I put the wheels on there because I thought they looked so nice. These are 18" with four brand new high speed tires mounted and balanced. I will also include the stock wheels with the car. They have good 15" tires on them with 3/4 tread life still remaining. The car also has an alpine CD stereo head unit with 4 x 50 watt output and sub out. It is prewired for an amp and sub in the trunk. It looks like it was done by a pro but the amp and sub are now missing. All the wires were ran under the carpet and are not visible. Even the power wire is still hooked to the battery under the hood but the fuse has been removed. That power wire runs all the way back to the trunk along with the other wires from the head unit.
If you are leaning OEM, The paint could be revitalized by someone that is good with matching and a touch up brush. There are some dings but I believe the hail damage guys with the paintless dent removal tools could fix it right up. This car could really pop and be a real head turner with original paint. Or go crazy and paint it some wild bright color and slam it down on the ground. I don't know a great deal about these cars but I'm learning and I'm fast becoming a fan of the brand. One thing I'm not too sure about is the possible overdrive function. It seems from the shifter markings that this should be a four speed auto but when I drive it I think it's only shifting twice after I leave a stop. Not sure how fast I must be going for the OD to kick in. Or maybe it is going into it and I can't tell it. It shifts perfect and brakes, turns, stops, etc. fantastically well. So smooth over bumps I can't believe it. So whether you want a hot rod or a low rider or if you want to go OEM, this little gem is ready to be transformed.
This is a no reserve auction but I do reserve the right to end it at any time because the car is also for sale locally. Happy bidding!
FYI, there is no tire rub with this current tire rim combo. You can make full radius turns, go over dips, rail roads, etc. with no rub.
