The Mercedes-Benz 230-280 SL series continued the tradition of the sporty open convertible of this famous German manufacturer. It was the successor to both the 190SL and the legendary 300SL Gullwing. Today, its popularity as a classic is increasing. It is nimble and practical while the styling is delicate and well-balanced. All this translates to increasing prices on the classic car market for these cars, especially for the 280SL model.

Ideally Equipped Driver with Open Air or Comfortable Coupe-Esque Touring Capabilities

An ideal all-weather, year-round driver, the example offered here wears Dark Blue paint over Parchment leather upholstery, appointed with desirable 4-Speed manual Transmission and period Becker Europa radio among other luxurious standard features. It received an exterior repaint and cabin reupholster years ago in correct colors, and has just begun to show age in areas, while the cab displays a fresh convertible top and complimenting square weave carpeting and Burl Wood dash trim. The desirable color-matched "pagoda" top is an excellent option with accompanying hardtop stand and dust cover.

A dossier of Servicing and Ownership records from 1980-2014 is also included in the sale. Mechanically, the Mercedes-Benz generally performs well, while its engine bay and undercarriage appear nicely detailed with fresh motor coatings and paint pen marking from services. The underside shows areas of corrosion and repair (pictured). This Pagoda would be best considered a presentable "driver" for continued enjoyment. Date coded spare, wheel chalk, jack and wrench reside in the trunk. Open air or comfortable coupe-esque touring, Mercedes-Benz's SL roadster have long been known to provide years of reliable motoring, and this nicely equipped 280 should be no exception. Aggressively priced this 280SL pagoda is sure to provide a great opportunity.
