It's like finding a Picasso in the attic....kind of

Evolve Motors is proud to present this 1967 NUMBERS MATCHING, RIGINAL, Mercedes-Benz 250SL. The story on this car is just too cool. You're looking at 1 of about 459 built for the year 1967, ith this unique setup. If you were to set this 250SL next to your friend's 250 that was built for America, he subtle differences become plain as day. The first thing you notice, s that this is a true right hand drive car, uilt for European specifications furthermore it is a “California Coupe” with a bench style rear seat. It has the correct European headlighs as well. This car is a true numbers correct “California Coupe” with it's original removable hardtop in tact with it's original “Signal Red” paint surviving under a black paint over. When you really combine all of the small details of this car, t's hard to say how many 1967 RHD California Coupe 250 SL's like this were ever produced. Here's your chance to own a piece of automotive history.

This car was believed to be owned by someone in Louisiana on the coast, who brought it back from his tour of duty overseas. The car ended up in Mississippi where it has been stored for most of the last 30+ years. Because it's been a southern car most of it's life, he underside is solid throughout except for the right rear area, here we see some work was done to either seal or stop any rust from spreading. We dont know how bad it is, ut view the pictures carefully. This car was a true barn find, o the condition we would call it is “restoration ready”. It truly needs to find someone to give it the time and love that it deserves. The good news is; IT'S ALL ORIGINAL, T RUNS AND DRIVES, ND IT'S ALL THERE!

Mechanically there wasn't much we could complain about. The car starts right up after a few cranks (may need a battery replaced). It drives and shifts well, ith no pull to the left or right on the wheel. The suspension is nice and tight, ith no creaks, oans or groans as we rolled it over a few speed bumps in our initial test drive. In 2006 the owner rebuilt the motor, rakes, uel system, nd drive line. We have ALL parts receipts, all OEM Mercedes-Benz parts!) including brakes (calipers and master cylinder), ater pump, uel pump, niversal joints, ransmission service, gnition, hift linkages, uel tank, tc... The hard part of this restoration is done – the mechanicals! We were told that they spent over $12,000 in repairs that year. Apparently his young daughters demanded that he got the car driving.

The interior of this car has seen better days, s looking at the pictures will tell you. Again, e stress that this car sat a good portion of it's life in a barn just outside Memphi, TN. The seats will need restored, s well as the carpets, nd door panels. The frames of the seats are in great shape, nd will look (and feel) better than new with the right restoration. The dash is in great condition, howing just the right amount of patina throughout the gauge bezels. The speedometer and other gauges work, s we believe this to be the correct 49,235 original miles. The floor boards, runk floor, nd all interior panels are clean and free from any rust or rot. We note the driver side window crank is broken, ut still cranks up and down smoothly. What more can we say about a car like this? It's absolute rarity make it a top contender for a concourse restoration, nd we hope to find the right person that can give it the love it so deserves!
