1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata

1990 Mazda Miata MX-5 Track Prepared Street Car - Pittsburgh PA

124k mile absolutely rust free California car, never wrecked. Original paint except passenger fender was dented, replaced and painted at some point. You wouldn’t notice unless I pointed it out. Car looks extremely nice. Turn Key.

The only other minor quirk is with the lightened flywheel, the AC compressor has a tendency to stall the car when it kicks on if you are stoppedat idle. Someone with better tuning skills than me can probably fix this with the adjustable idle up settings in the ECM.

It is capable of Spec Miata track record times on 200 Treadwe arstreet tires. Basically, this car is extremely fast and able to keep up withmuch more expensive higher-powered cars at any race track. It still drives wellon the street with the high quality Xida coilovers which are adjustable fromsoft to stiff. The car has a full interior. Put the windows up, turn the AC on,and cruise to and from the track or for a spirited drive through the curves. ItDyno’d 152HP / 132lb ft on Dynojet on 91—I have the sheet.

I’m selling due to lack of time and space to use it with agrowing family. It was built following the 949Racing / Trackspeed Engineering recipe with all the right parts and attention to detail. This is not your cheapo beat miata with no name parts. It is built correctly. If you put an E85 tune on the Megasquirt3 ECM, it will produce even more power. The entire fuel system is upgraded to handle the E85 and increased fuel requirements. The car has all the supporting modifications that are ready for a turbo kit down the line if you so desired. The fuel system, 6 speed transmission, cooling system, ignition, and ECM are all capable of handling a turbo upgrade. As is, the car is perfectly happy pouring the coals to it for 20-30 minutes sessions at a track day on 91 octane all day long.

While the car may be near the price range of other “cooler”cars, when you calculate in the reliability of this car, the speed, and the comically low cost of consumables (example--rear brake rotors are $9), I challenge you to find a more reliable fast car with a lower cost per mile on track. Basically you just have to stay on top of fluid changes. The brakes and tires last a long time. This car will challenge you to become a better driver and not break your wallet while doing it.

I just repacked the front wheel bearings, changed the oil with mobil 1, bled brakes and clutch with motul 600, Redline 75W90 in the differential and put Ford synthetic manual trans fluid in the transmission.

Data system in pictures not included.

Custom Trailer is also available $4500 (in addition to car asking price).

I'll work with the buyer on coordinated shipping if desired at the buyer's expense.
