1979 Mazda RX-7

Hello all, this is my 79 RX7 that I have had for 3 years or so. I am the 3rd owner, although the second owner only owned it briefly. This car has an original 29000 miles, and if you look at the overall condition, the low miles show. There is no rust on the body at all. The only rust to see is a slight surface amount on the inside of the hood. Simply surface. It is visible in the picture of the motor compartment with the hood up, taken from the rear. I am no stranger to RX7's, and find this one exceptional. The motor is almost completely stock, the only variation from this is the distributor, which I have changed from a points ( original) to electronic. The original will go with the car. Also, this car was born as an automatic, but was professionally converted to 5 speed. I have the original trans, as well as every other part to convert it back if you wish.During the conversion, a new Clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and Racing Beat, Lightweight steel flywheel was used. The flywheel is the perfect weight for revving out well, without needing to slip the clutch. It works perfectly. While this was done, the driveshaft was also serviced and balanced for a very smooth drive train. The conversion came out perfect, and is undetectable to anyone. The car has new Cap, Rotor, Wires, plugs, filters and recent oil change as well as full coolant system service . The tires are brand new ( less than 500 miles on them). The battery is also new.The steering wheel bushing has been replaced, as that is a known issue on these cars, so the steering wheel is now nice and tight. All components work as they should, and it really runs well. You could daily drive this car if you so choose. The air conditioner should get a "shot" as it is not as cold as it should be.There are a few minor "ticks" that go with this car, first, the driver seat has a minuscule hole on the left upright, it is in the pix, but it really is small. Also the center console has 2 small holes thru the lid, as there was a factory option of a pad, that raised the console. I hated the look so much that I would prefer to see the holes. Also, occasionally after it sits, the voltage regulator takes a few seconds to "kick in". It is the original, so I didn't change it. It has been very predictable, and only "acts up" upon initial start up after a long sleep. In the extreme rear interio, under the deck lid, the carpet doesn't stay perfectly formed as the plastic backing has cracked a bit, and last there is a slight surge at approx 2500 rpm, which disappears by giving it a touch more throttle. My guess is this needs to be jetted a little more rich.
Included with this car is a 5th brand new tire that matches the 4 on the car. I also have a set of 14 inch wheels and tires ( tires are great) and wheel adapters. I have the original automatic transmission, and every other part associated with that ( trans is perfect, I just prefer manual) I have 2 boxes of various spare parts ( including the ugly console lid extender, factory distributor, and factory manuals, and a beautiful, heavyweight car cover. I will also include a brand new Racing Beat complete exhaust system. I bought this for the car, however, after I gained an appreciation for it's natural state, I decided not to install it. Please note, these additional parts, although free with the car, may add to the shipping cost, which will be yours.
The car comes with 2 sets of keys, and the original owners manual. You would be hard pressed to find a car of this age, in better condition. It really is that nice. Please note, any black that may be visible is undercoat, which what popular back in the 70s. It is probably one of the reasons this car is so very solid, along with the fact that it has always been garage kept.
If you have any questions, please call me at 201 796 8804 X7128 from noon to 8pm eastern time. Please no low feedback bidders unless you call me first. I will treat you with respect and courtesy, and expect the same in return. Vehicle is located in Northern New Jersey.
There may be less expensive RX7's out there, but not in this condition. You will be surprised at the overall condition of this extremely well preserved car .Thank you
