So, here else are you buying your clean, ower-mileage, ollectable Lincolns anyway? Reluctantly, his car was turned over to us by the original owner’s elderly widow just a few weeks ago. He passed on last year and she had never driven the car, ver. Considering the over-all excellent condition, t’s apparent this Mark V has been lovingly cared for its entire life. The odometer now reads 86,776 and, ased on her history recitation, hese are the original miles. Think about it, his boulevard cruiser has averaged less than 2,500 per year since new! Along with the ownership documents, ’ll be forwarding to the next caretaker most of the original new-car purchase paperwork, ome maintenance receipts and the factory owner’s manual in its paper dealer sleeve. This owner was so meticulous with his car it even comes with the original keys still on the dealer fob given him when he drove off the showroom floor. Please feel free to contact me at (206)914-1173 with questions or to discuss a sale. My name is Mark Thompson.

If you follow my Ebay auctions regularly you know I’ve been able to offer many clean, nique Lincolns here the past ten years. We’ve sold all four versions of the Mark V Designer Coupe and a few very sharp Mark III & IV’s as well. Finding a well-kept, ust-free Lincoln like this with a perfect black interior is a real treat! Mr. Sonntag bought the car new at Auburn Lincoln-Mercury (here in Auburn, ashington, Seattle suburb) 36 years ago on Dec 14, 979 and it has always been kept garaged at his home in nearby Renton. For those not familiar with the Lincoln Mark V series here’s a little background info gleaned from several sources:

The final opportunity to purchase a full-sized American luxury car came in 1977 with the introduction of the Mark V. Never again would automobiles be so large, r demonstrate such a sheer presence based on size alone. For many years Lincoln had trailed Cadillac in sales, ut during the sixties and seventies Lincoln finally established a look it could claim as its own, nd finally started to challenge Cadillac for the top spot. In fact, he Mark series often outsold its competitor, he Eldorado. The 1977 - 79 Mark V was Lincoln's supreme achievement, he pinnacle of American luxury car design that has its roots buried in the age when bigger was better, tyle was based on grand visions, nd a powerful engine under the hood provided status and became part of the American dream.

Since Cadillac had down-sized its sedans in 1977 and, wo years later, he Eldorado, he Continentals were the final full-sized, ull-fledged American luxury cars. In the late summer of 1979 Lincoln put its customers on notice that this model year would be their last opportunity, nd they'd best not put it off for long if they wanted a new traditional luxury car.

CONDITION

Ever spent an afternoon driving a classy, intage Lincoln? What fun! Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth powerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. Comfort, tyling, nd versatility all in one gorgeous ride. For my money, hese Mark V Coupes are the best value for the overall driving experience that Lincoln had to offer. Look over my photos and I’m sure you’ll agree what a find this is. In many ways “time capsule” is a good adjective to use when describing this car. I know you’ll admire its overall provenance. All the glass is fine. The exterior appears to still be wearing the original gold metallic paint in absolutely excellent condition. I’m not an expert, ut I find no evidence of body repair or a respray here. Climb over, nder and throughout - I know you’ll come up smiling! You’re NOT going to find body rust where it typically appears on cars from other parts of the country. Yes, he Puget Sound region is famous for rain, ut our winter roads are rarely salted. If at all, e only have one or two days of light snow a year. Really, veryone panics and stays home. There are absolutely NO “tiger claw” splits, O shrinkage and NO discoloration of the black landau vinyl top. You won’t find one nicer!

Mechanically the car seems quite strong. Even after sitting in my warehouse for a few days at a time it never fails to start right up with the first few cranks. You just cannot beat the great 400 CID motors in these ‘79 coupes! Pump the gas a few times, urn the key and it starts right up, ven when cold. The C-6 automatic three-speed transmission shifts great and we all know how good Ford/Lincoln rear differentials are! I did feel the brakes were a bit soft so I had a new “Hydro-boost” hydraulic master cylinder system installed and all are now fine. We also had a complete tuneup and oil change done at the same time. The four original factory-optioned turbine-style alloy wheels are straight & true and wrapped with passable but older Michelin radials. I’ve spent several days both cruising the freeway and inching through rush hour traffic and can’t find fault with the way this Lincoln runs or drives out.
My interior photos clearly show the great front and rear upholstery. There are NO cracks or wear-through spots on any of the seats. You’ll be quite impressed with the condition of the dash gauges, oo. They’re as clear and bright as the day this rig left the Wixom plant on a March afternoon over 36 years ago! The original carpets are clean and un-faded. The headliner is just about perfect. Though I’ve only found a few things, always try to point out negatives as well. The dash clock has stopped running. While the heater and fan will keep you toasty warm, lan on having the AC system serviced/recharged to blow colder next summer. Will you ever really need it? Just open the extra-large power moonroof and experience all the cool air you can handle! Both the small power wind-wing windows and the main glass go up and down just fine. There is one small rock chip on the upper passenger side of the windshield. As pictured, he original Ford Quadrasonic AM-FM stereo is still with the car. Pop in that old “Saturday Night Fever” eight-track and you’re ready to boogie like it’s 1979!

We have had many of our previous buyers from as far away as Alaska, alifornia, he east coast, anada and even the Mexican Baja fly in here to the Seattle-Tacoma International just a few miles from my vehicle storage warehouse in Auburn. I’m happy to meet you there at the airport and you can begin the drive home the same day!
