1972 Lincoln Continental

After six amazing years I am parting ways with my beloved "Cabrini" - one of THE coolest Lincoln's in the greater Boston area and beyond! 26,500 original miles, I purchased her from the original owners down in Cranston, RI with only 18k. Purchased new in '72 from local car dealership legends Tasca (yes, I STILL have the original build sheet/bill of sale!) by a rather "distinguished" Cranston gentlemen who's wife generously installed the "Rolls Royce" style grill on front (and yes, of COURSE I still have the original grill in great shape) and wire spoke hubs for her husband's birthday in 1977 (unfortunately I don't have the original "saucer" hubs). She is green vinyl on metallic green with green leather interior which STILL carries that "new car" smell (kinda freaky actually! lol) and sits on sweet custom white walls with only about 11k miles on them. TITLE IN HAND!!
WOW FACTOR: Let's just get this out of the way - she gets LOTS of attention. LOTS. She draws stares, shout outs and I've been pulled over THREE TIMES JUST SO THE COP CAN TALK ABOUT HER! She's had her picture taken by strangers more times than some Kardashians and even appeared in THREE movies including the Whitey flic "Black Mass". Not for those wanting to blend in ;)
OUTSIDE CONDITION: Sweet at five feet...ALL original body shows signs of wear and patina with light surface rust showing on the hood and spots on top of doors. She has a small scrape/dent on the passenger rear door but otherwise has NO other dents. The detail is incredible - all the paint trim around the brake lights remains perfect and the chrome, while old and starting to pit, is in great shape. I planned on a new paint job ONLY when it became a problem and as far as I'm concerned she's only original once! Bubbling on parts of the vinyl roof is noticeable when you get to 2-3 feet but nothing that detracts or distracts from her overall beauty. Vacuum headlights STILL work flawlessly and headlights, directional, power antenna etc. all perform fine. Sometimes the left directional gets finicky but a quick off/on of the hazard lights fixes it! lol. Oh yeah, new directional in the trunk along with other various goodies.
INSIDE CONDITION: Sweet at five INCHES. Rug, mats, faux wood dash, speedo AMAZING. Leather seats comfortably broken in in the front and virtually untouched in the back. Headliner, gauges ALL great (except for the clock - $250 buys you one that will work!). Power windows all work - passenger front gets sticky. Driver door opens/closes all except passenger window. Power door locks don't work but 2-way power seating keeps you living room comfortable! Dash lights working but interior lights NOT working - I pulled the fuse that has the interior lights and key "ding" since it was draining the battery slowly. It was on my "to-do" list. SO much leather and space she's bigger than most living rooms!
DRIVING CONDITION: SO close to perfection - new almost everything to get her road ready but that carb can be tricky (my old school mechanic did NOT want me to convert to fuel injection! lol) so sometimes I'll pump her a few times to get her going. Smooth and truly "boat like" she is FAST with TONS of torque. Her big wheel base makes her surprisingly easy to turn and her dramatic chromed corners make it not as difficult to park as you'd think.
WHAT'S BEEN REPLACED: Here's where you get your value from folks...LOTS of work done to the girl since I got her!
* New white walls
* New period correct exhaust system
* New brakes including master cylinder
* Rebuilt carb
* New plugs, wires etc.
* New modern fuel lines and gas tank
* A/C converted (currently NOT charged)
* Rebuilt radiator
