Description:

1979 Lincoln Mark Series Mark V Cartier

Rare opportunity to acquire a unique premium quality Lincoln Mark V.I am a private seller and partially restored & upgraded the car.
Below is a detailed list of the condition and history of the car to give you the most accurate description to the best of my knowledge.
  • Overall:
Runs very strong with a big V8.You won't need to fix anything to get it going - this is a turnkey car!!
You'll get lots of compliments on the car. People love it. Great stereo. Great Cruiser. Amazing Condition as you can see on the pictures.
  • Interior:
This car has the beautiful velour seats that are in a stunning original condition. All the upholstery, including the carpet and the headliner are original. The Dashboard condition is simply perfect. It still has its original color, no burns from the sun!And the dashboard's panel is neither cracked, nor faded. It's all there and shinny!
  • Exterior:
Look at the paint quality and how beautiful the vinyl top is!!I had the car repainted about a year ago matching the factory color paint using the paint color code available on the sticker near the driver's door. The reason I had the car repainted is because the original paint had lost some of its shine. It was beautifully and very professionally done.
The vinyl landau top is new and matching the original one as well.I did replace the original top because after three decades it had started to shrink a little bit, and was showing a couple of little sun burns... and since I love when things are impeccable... I got it replaced as well when the car was repainted.
  • Under carriage:
Some people asked me if I got the under carriage of the car cleaned at some point: the answer is nope! It's original. The only thing that I got done under the car is refurbish the drive shaft and replace the 2 U-joints at some point.
  • Mechanically:
The engine runs very good.As you can see the engine bay is very clean.I drive with it in town frequently and always keep it road worthy!
Last year I did give a little mechanical overall to the car.Things I did:- service the transmission and put new gaskets.- service the engine, replace oil & gas filters, as well the head cover gaskets.- replaced all spark plugs and took the opportunity to also check the compression in all 8 cylinders which is very good and showing equal ratings.- took theopportunityto also replace thecarburetor. I still have the original carb in a box that I'll give with the car. The original carb was working fine but was a little bit worn out and when the engine was idling it was not as smooth as it used to be. The one currently on the car is actually 100% identical to the original carb. It is a remanufactured OEM carburetor.- service the A/C. The A/C was converted in the past, but did check it still had enough gas in it. The A/C is super strong and blowing ice cold.- new brake master cylinder.- all 4 disk brakes including oil lines were replaced. The old disks were a little bit worn out and the oil lines had become old. I've changed break calipers and all pads. Since good brakes are the most important thing while driving, it was an easy decision to already overall the brakes once in nearly 40 years. I must say it now brakes harder than some modern cars I've driven.- when I replaced the carburetor I also replaced some of the fuel lines and put in it a new gas tank and a new sending unit. Some hoses tend to dry after time and to be safe it's good to replace them. The gas tank I replaced it because it was a little bit dirty inside and after putting a new carburetor on the car, I wanted to make sure all the system is clean.- the rear suspension shocks were also replaced at some point.- the tires on the car have about 6,000 miles. At the current rate they should be good for another 20-30,000 miles.
  • Entertainment:
I replaced the original FM/AM radio with a new one from the "RetroSound" brand. These guys make stereos that look antique, but actually come equipped with modern stuffs such as Bluetooth which is very cool to connect your phone to the radio of the car without any cable, or to speak on the phone while driving directly on the car's speakers. All 4 speakers in the car are also recent; they are expensive Alpine speakers that give very good sound quality without any noise or music coloration. I did took care as well to rewire the speakers with new ticker copper cables - the kind you usually have in your living room if you're looking for premium sound quality.
  • Reason for selling:
I had a lot of fun with this car but sometimes you need change in your life.
  • Important things to know?
I have the original owner's manual booklet in the glove box, it's still intact and in one piece. The next oil change is in about 1,500 miles.
