BACK STORY on the CAR
Just removed from Original Owners Garage. At age 91 years old, he no longer can drive so the car had to go. He purchased the car new in 1967. Now For the first time, it is offered for sale to someone who will bring her back to the glory days.Very Very Rare Color Combo that deserves a Full Restoration.
Interior:
We just had ALL windows on the car serviced by a LINCOLN SPECIALIST.Switches were ALL cleaned/rebuilt and or replaced.NOTE: (WE ARE WAITING ON 1 NEW WINDOW RELAY FOR REAR WINDOW) It will be installed when it arrives from being on order.Otherwise all other windows currently work as they should. EVEN THE POWER VENT WINDOWS
Factory Color CODE 2D Dark Red Leather ORIGINAL Seats... Seats are in average condition with some flaws on front and back seats including top of rear seat where material has separated from sun shrinkage. (See photos) The leather is soft and nice but seats do have some tears & seam separation in spots etc. (See photos)-Door panels are in good shape-Dashboard is in good SHAPE but does have the typical small crack by speaker on top. (Most all Lincolns this year will crack there at some point)-Steering Wheel is goodCarpet is Original & in good condition. It does have some pieces pulling out on passenger side under where floor mats would normally be.Trunk LOOKS Great inside.Power antenna and radio work. This car has Air Conditioning too but we have not tried it. Basically interior on car is very usable as is but could use freshened up on the seats and carpet. A good upholstery shop could swap out some pieces of the seats and re-stictch with some new leather for little cost in the areas that need attetion.
Exterior:
-The paint on the car is in its RARE Original Black color code A but in need of a respray. The enamel paint is checking and chipping away in areas. I rate the paint at a 5 out of 10. Needs re-done.-On the Body...There is some rust thru in the rear quarters by the rear doors on both sides and around rear wheel wells. The car is straight when looking down the sides. The pass. side lower rocker on very bottom has some rust thru but looks to be very repairable along with trunk floor. Also the pass. side floor pan looks to have had a patch piece of metal installed at one point.Chrome on Front Bumper is in good shape.Rear bumper does have some chrome peal on very bottom of center section on either side of the lic. plate. Not very noticeable since it is on lower bottom curve but needs to be noted. All Stainless trim on car is in very nice shape
Engine: Original V8 462 CU
This car has just been removed form the original owners garage where it has been sitting for quite some time. We have not attempted to start the car but it does turn over freely when cranked with the key. All lights work and horn etc.
CONVERTIBLE TOP:
PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO BUYING ONE OF THESE LINCOLNS....THE TOP!!!! VERY VERY Important item on one of these cars is the hydraulic top functions. This car has just been fully serviced for its Top Functions. EVERYTHING was gone thru including EVERY Relay, ALL pumps, EVERY LIMIT SWITCH etc. at a cost of over $3000 which did include the power window servicing as well. Any one that knows these cars, knows that it is VITAL to buy one already serviced for its top and windows!! They are not cheap to have fully serviced but once this is complete they will work and last for another 40 years. This service was just completed last week. Top Now WORKS GREAT. It is believed to be the ORIGINAL FACTORY Top Fabric still on the car and is in average shape. Starting to stretch a bit on the corners and yellow a tad. No leaks but it is recommended to change top material when restored for that new fresh look.
SUMMARY… With these cars approaching $50-$70k in resale, This one deserves a restoration. Very Very Rare color combo. There are countless white, yellow, red etc. but how many factory Black Lincolns with Factory Red leather are left??? Very few and that is perhaps the best and MOST Valuable COLOR to Own!!
