This Defender 90 was legally imported from Italy. It is titled by the original importer in Virginia, all import paperwork and clear Virginia title is available. The vehicle is in very good, original condition, has not been restored and paint is completely original with maybe one touch up spot that I can see. Factory Left Hand Drive,1989 model year with the 2.5 turbo diesel engine and LT77 gearbox, 4 wheel disc brakes, low range 4WD works well. Color is Eastnor Green, VIN is SALLDVAB8FA453886. It has 127081 miles or 204990 kilometers. This is the model with sunroof.
Various accessories are installed like a snorkel, steering guard, rock sliders, auxiliary antenna, rear spot light and front fog lights ( fog lights not currently wired up). Also has an ARB air compressor and air lockers (along with the factory differential locks). The ARB air lockers light up with the switches but I have not done any further testing on them as I am not sure how to test them. The load area has a bench seat and a tool/storage box that also houses the ARB compressor.
There is an AC compressor installed but it is not currently functional due to no interior blower unit present, I imagine the previous owner removed the blower unit at some point. Another nice upgrade is 4 wheel disc brakes with the rear ones sourced from a 300TDI (earlier Defenders had rear drums up to and including the 200TDI so the first ones with rear discs were the 300TDIs). Alloy wheels and 20 new lug nuts were recently installed. Tires have good tread and were balanced when the wheels were changed.
Paint is original with some dents, dings, scratches etc that one would expect from an unrestored vehicle this age. Frame is in good condition and solid, the rear crossmember (bumper) does show some signs of repair. Door bottoms, floors are all good as well.
It runs and drives fine, it is not built for speed being an old school diesel so please don't expect it to drive like a modern SUV. This is an off road, utility and adventure vehicle that will take you anywhere, just not very fast. Of course it could be upgraded with a V8 or 300tdi, many proven engine swap options out there.
On my test drives the temp gauge sits under mid level as it should, no cooling system issues. Brakes work well and are firmer than the 200tdis as this has 4wheel discs. I drove it to about 80kmph down the road.
I do not guarantee or recommend long distance drives in any old car without a thorough mechanical inspection/servicing so if a buyer asks can it be driven to Colorado, I will say it should be shipped. My test drive was limited to around town driving.
This is a 25 year old vehicle and unrestored, so it is not perfect. I have described the vehicle honestly but please expect the normal wear and tear for a vehicle this age. It does have a few dents and dings, scratches etc but the paint still shines and it looks good. The dents and scratches just give it some character. I can ship it anywhere at buyer's cost.
Serious buyers only please, please have funds available if you bid. There are select finance companies that will provide loans to purchase classic cars but they do require excellent credit so if you plan to finance, do your research as financing a classic car is not like financing newer vehicles. Woodside credit is one classic car loan company that I worked with for a buyer and it seemed to be smooth enough experience.
Vehicle sold AS IS, no warranty expressed or implied. Payment is due 3 days after auction close, deposit due immediately by paypal. Thank you for looking at this listing..
