It's reportedly an off-road monster, a go-anywhere truck, ready when you are. Interested? Then come by MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this Land Rover Santana Series IIA 88. This example a 88-inch Series IIA 4x4 models made in 1966 and imported from Spain but has recently resided in Arizona.Land Rover Santana were manufacture under license by the Metalurgica de Santa Ana company in Linares Spain from 1958 to 1990.

The truck's white over sand paint scheme is in good, original condition with some minor flaws present. The bodywork is straight and solid, its cargo area, with a pair of jump seats, is in similar condition, the truck's white bumpers are original and its engine bay is tidy. There's even a jerry can in the rear.

Rolling on almost new Lassa VSS OK-144 mud tires, size 7.50-16 and steel wheels painted white, the rolling stock is in overall very good order. There is a full-size spare tire with white steel wheel in the cargo area, along with a fire extinguisher.

Under the hood is a 2.25L four-cylinder diesel engine, mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Many mechanical repairs to the truck have already been made. The truck's driveshaft and shock absorbers were replaced two years ago; it has a new fuel tank and new brakes lines as reported by the previous owner.

Inside, the interior is in good, original order. The brown seats are in overall good shape but there are minor blemishes on the passenger side. The floormats mirror the condition of the seats. The white headliner provides good contrast to the seat color. The body-colored instrument panel features center-mounted gauges and full instrumentation but the temp gauge is inoperable and the speedometer fluctuates. The inner door liner and dash are in that same good, original condition.

Santana Motor S.A. was a Spanish car manufacturer based in Linares, in the province of Jaén, Spain. The company was founded as "Metalúrgica de Santa Ana, SA" and originally manufactured agricultural equipment. The company was set up with a start-up of just 3 million pesetas, following a drive by the Spanish government in 1954 who were offering start-up incentives to local businesses to encourage development in the Andalucía region of southern Spain. The company decided to expand beyond its original products line and entered into talks with the Rover car company in 1956 in an attempt to get a licensing agreement to build Land Rover series models in their factory, in a similar way to the Minerva company in Belgium, Tempo in Germany and Morattab company in Iran, all built series Land Rovers under license. An agreement was reached in 1956 and production began in 1958 it was licensed to build Land Rover models. The Santana Motor company-built series Land Rovers under license in CKD form (Complete Knocked Down kits); essentially parts were shipped over from the Land Rover factory in Solihull and the Land Rovers were built up from this 'kit' at the Santana factory in Spain.

The Series II and the Series IIA are very difficult to distinguish. There were some minor cosmetic changes. Body configurations available from the factory ranged from short-wheelbase soft-top to the top-of-the-line five-door station wagon. A 2.25-litre Diesel was added to the engine line.

Theseries IIAis considered by many the hardiest series model constructed. It is quite possibly also the type of classic Land Rover that features strongly in the general public's perception of the Land Rover, from its many appearances in popular films and television documentaries set in Africa throughout the 1960s, such asBorn Free. In February 1968, just a few months afterits manufacturerhad been subsumed, under government pressure, into theLeyland Motor Corporation, the Land Rover celebrated its 20th birthday, with total production to date just short of 600,000, of which more than 70 percent had been exported. Certainly, it was while the series IIA was in production that sales of utility Land Rovers reached their peak, in 1969-70, when sales of over 60,000 Land Rovers a year were recorded. As well as record sales, the Land Rover dominated many world markets-in Australia in the 1960s Land Rover held 90 percent of the 4×4 market. This figure was repeated in many countries in Africa and the Middle East.

Competition to this Land Rover in 1966 included Ford's Bronco, Jeep's CJ-5, International's Scout 800, Nissan's Patrol and Toyota's Land Cruiser. Documentation includes a Land Rover Series II-IIA Repair and Operations Manual.
