1975 Land Rover Series III Carawagon

One of the rarest Land Rovers in the U.S., After assembly, this left hand drive Series III "88" was sent to R.J.Searle Ltd of Britain for the Carawagon Safari conversion. Most of the Carawagons were the long wheelbase 109, but they did a limited number of "88"s and this is one. I have searched the web and found two in England.I was able to locate the Factory brochure. This Land Rover has always been the star of many Land Rover meets and events. Winning 1st place in the Dallas all British car show two years in a row. It spent 4 years in a Texas steakhouse as a Outback Prop. and 3 years in a adventure clothing store. I have owned the car for many years and enjoyed working on it and keeping it true to form. My age does not let me enjoy it as I would like so I hope I can pass it on to someone who knows what these cars are all abou, appreciates attention to detail and will enjoy this Land Rover for many years. I have paid attention to almost every system on the vehicle and corrected anything I found. The very basics are : 4cyl. 4speed trans with high/low range and Overdrive. Please understand these cars were never meant for todays highway speeds. 55/60 is a sweet spot on the freeway Two fuel tank, roof rac, and very nice sleeping for two. All brakes have been rebuil, as well as the engine and transmission. The frame is in good condition and a very strong trailer hitch was fabricated to match the original shape of the rear bumper. The body is in exceptional condition free of any bodywork. Parts: Mechanical parts are readily available however body parts can be a challeng, that being said over the years I have acquired both front wings (fenders) a bonne, both doors and the body capping for the entire vehicle. All will be included in the sale. Plus countless mechanical parts. My only hope is this car goes to some who really appreciates the work I have done to her. She is not a trailer queen but a very well preserved rare icon of days of adventure. Please understand sold as is and seller must arrange for and pay shipping. And please only serious bidders Thank You
