1990 Land Rover Defender 90 - Unique Truck that Runs Flawlessly

Drive the most unique truck on the road with this custom built, Rhino lined 1990 Land Rover Defender 90! Imported from the UK in 2016 with clean Ohio title and plates. The engine, body, and interior went through a complete overhaul once imported. Here's the background on the custom overhaul:

ENGINE:

The original diesel engines on 1990s are slow, so a newer Land Rover 2.5L TDI engine was also imported and replaced on the truck. Original miles indicate ~108K+, but miles on the current engine are around 80K.

While there is no MPG rating for this vehicle, it consistently gets between 200-250 miles on just 10 gallons of diesel fuel, (i.e. ~20-25 miles per gallon) -- which is amazing fuel economy for a truck this size and age. Diesel engines are far superior in Defenders for this reason and many more!

EXTERIOR:

After the TDI engine was replaced, the Defender was sent to a body shop for a complete exterior makeover.The truck was stripped down and a few small rust patches on the roof were fixed the right way by actually replacing the metal. Then the whole truck was Rhino lined, inside and out, to give it the amazing look it has today. The roll cagewas also removed and powder coated. And a new LED light bar was installed. The truck can now light up an entire field with this light bar.Lastly, new mud terrain tires were installed, making it the envy of any off road enthusiast.

INTERIOR:

On the interior, new leather seats and seat belts were installed for the two front seats. Two new back bench seats were also installed. Care was taken to ensure that the new interior features maintained the classic look and feel of the original 90s fromthis time period.Lastly, a bluetooth stereo/CD player and custom speaker boxes were installed so you can listen to music over the roar of the diesel engine. There's a USB port on the stereo so you can charge your phone or other small appliances while driving. All interior mechanicals have been checked over and work great.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

To top it all off, this imported truck is a right side drive, giving you a truly unique driving experience on and off the road.

Most importantly, the truck drives like new (for a TDI engine). It turns over every time, in the heat of August and cold of February). The original battery was just replaced in early 2018 with a Land Rover dealer battery, which will last for many more years to come. It's been kept in a garage since import and driven infrequently since the overhaul.

All original gauges on the dash still work, which is extremely rare and a testament to how well this particular Defender has been maintained for the past 28 years. The speedometer is in MPH and it sputters between a 5 MPH range, but I understand that was common even on the new vehicles in 1990. Engine temperate gauge works great and even gave me a warning the one time I needed to intervene with a repair when a coolant hose came loose. Fuel gauge also works from a full tank to just below a 1/4 tank when it starts to sputter, which becomes a helpful indicator to refuel since there is no dash light indicator for low fuel.

As a classic vehicle, there are definitely some quirks to this truck that give it more character than flaws for the right Defender enthusiast. I am only selling this 90 because I am getting a 110 to have the extra bench seat for my growing family and I need the space in my garage.

The body has a few imperfections, as is expected on such a rugged off road vehicle. The heat works, but blowers are pretty weak so it can get cold in the cab in the winter. The passenger window sticks a bit when it is rolled down and up. A new part (~$100) is needed to make the crank smoother on that window.
