1990 Land Rover Defender
Land Rover Defender 110 Tithonus Ex military - Left hand drive. This is my show car. The chassis frame, bulkhead, body are mint. The engine was a renewed crate motor in 2012 and during my ownership I have fully reconditioned the cylinder head with new valves, springs, hot spots. New injector pipes. New exhaust. New cambelt and tensioner less than 1000 miles ago. The transfer box has been removed, I have fitted the updated cross-drilled input gear and all gaskets and seals have been renewed. I have fitted the uprated rear drive flange and seal. This car no burns no oil, has no drivetrain slop and no leaks. It drives beautifully.
The car has covered a total of 53000 miles of which the engine a small part. The condition of the vehicle owes much to the fact that it was a rare FFR (fitted for radio) vehicle, carrying expensive radio equipment and not troops. I have fitted the additional Exmoor trim bench seats, genuine seat belts and a side opening rear tailgate sprayed in NATO green. The paint on the car is the original military work, I have not resprayed it. The military sprayed the green directly over its sand coloured paint as it had clearly been on desert operations. There is therefore occasional flaking revealing the sand colour underneath. This is most noticeable around the soft top hook points which I have touched up. Generally, the paint work is in excellent condition.
It is currently wearing the "beach wheels/tyres and facelift grille" look for a car show in Florida last weekend. I swap between this and the original military equipment depending on the nature of the car show as I have the original Wolf wheels tyres, military grille, lights, hardtop roof and full size rear door kept in the garage to return it to original full military spec(minus any of the radio equipment of course).
Please note I am selling the vehicle with the original set of wheels and tyres (which are also in show condition) along with the Tithonus roof, grille and military lights but I'm not selling the aftermarket wheels and tyres shown in many of the pictures.
The car is garaged and located in Jupiter Florida where I will be until Friday and can answer questions, send additional pictures, arrange viewings, test drives etc. After which I am sending the car away to specialist auction. The insurance company has valued and insured it at $40k. The reserve price is much less than this. I can be contacted on 772 341 2533 or via ebay.
The VIN Number is SALLDHAC8HA471812 I have photographed the car with the VINs all the correct places. The car has clean Florida title of course and is being sold as seen without warranty. You will struggle to find a better example of such a rare original collectors Defender Tithonus.
