Description:

1991 Land Rover Range Rover

1991 Range Rover Classic Great Divide Edition

This mighty Land Rover has approximately 213k miles on her, has been in the Pacific Northwest for quite a long time and has been a reliable and sturdy rig. It's always gone through all I’ve thrown at it, 4 seasons, and never complained. The truck is a true Great Divide Edition, evidence supports the case, however the front aluminum bumper appears to be something newer (and looks far better than the stock GDE, and is likely far more expensive). Can be driven as is or restored to make it a highly valuable classic again. This RRC has the charisma you expect it to and I'm going to miss her.

No body rust, very limited evidence of surface rust due to the fact that this is a Pacific car. Body panels are straight, no evidence of any accidents, and has not been repainted (besides a bit of plasticote on the hood), but this truck has a GREAT patina. Transmission shifts good, engine starts every time and runs well always, with plenty of power. Tows well, never overheated in my watch, lifted suspension could be refreshed, but works fine. 4wd engages low and plows through any condition without drama. Recent work includes new front brakes, steering column, water pump, oxygen sensors, ignition system, battery among the usual TLC.

Needs: Not very much to keep it going down the road. Oversize BFG tires rub a bit so that could be corrected. Steering wheel is a few degrees off, resulting from a rushed job to replace the previous failed shaft. One of the rear power locks stopped working, some dash bulbs out, typical 25 year old car stuff. Cruise control is long gone, AC has not been cold in quite a while, but if you want a RRC Great Divide, you don't care. ABS light on due to front wheel sensor inop. Stereo could be improved. Steering box leaks a bit like they all do. Headliner is not sagging, but has wear and tear, as does the drivers seat.

This truck is a great restomod, ranch/trail build or full resto, as it's pretty complete, down to the owner's manual. This is a very rare and coveted (1 of 400) model, significant to Land Rover heritage and legacy. While this Rover has had a rich and long life, this truck should really go to a collector or hobbyist who will be its next custodian. To assist in that aim, I have set a Reserve price at $2500 to target the right buyer, it's still too cheap, $5,000 buy it now I expect to be exercised, so if you've always wanted one, here's your chance.

The car has all characteristic for a rare and coveted GDE (Color, interior trim, Tailgate Decal, Perforated Seats, 1991 (MA VIN) with large gas door, fog light switch and wiring, outline for where the plaque was, Rear brush guards are in the trunk, 5 spoke wheels... as can be found below from the source of rangerovers.net

Great Divide Edition (GDE):

Price was $600 more than the County model. The Great Divide Edition was named after the August 1989 Great Divide Expedition, a 13 day, 1,123-mile trip along the Continental Divide sponsored by RRNA for the press.A limited edition of 400 were made according to press releases and only 400 have the numbered plaques in the door jambs.A total of 409 GDE models were built (the NAS parts manual lists all the VIN #s). The extra 9 GDEs were used for promotional purposes by RRNA.One of the 9 was loaned to the Death Valley Park Rangers for patrol duties and had the optional factory winch hidden under the front bumper, ranger decals, and a red and blue highway patrol style light bar on the roof. All were built in 1990 to 1990 (LA) model specs, and weresold in the summer of 1990 as 1991 models with 1991 (MA) VINs.All were painted Alpine white with Sorrell (light) brown leather interiors. They had a large round Great Divide sticker on the tailgate and a numbered brass plaque in the drivers door jamb. They all had rear lamp guards and a special black painted aluminum front bumper with integrated brush bar (some had dealer installed winches). They did not have the plastic front air dam with fog lights, but had the small plastic air deflector from the European Base and Turbo Diesel models. They were the first US Range Rovers with the 5 spoke wheels (painted smoke gray) that were originally designed as an option for the Discovery inEurope.Inside they were the only U.S. Range Rovers to have pebble dot perforated leather upholstery. They also had a sunroof, auto dim rear view mirror, and American walnut on the doors, dash and center console. The front page of the GDE owners manual had a sticker that says NOTE: This limited Production Range Rover has a special equipment package giving it unique character and appeal. Not all of the equipment described in the Owner's Manual is installed on the Great Divide Edition Vehicle. Specifically the references to the front spoiler, engine undertray, and fog lamps do not apply to this vehicle. The fog lamp switch and wiring is installed on the vehicle.
