Offered for sale is a 1991 LHD Land Rover Defender 90 3 door wagon. It has a 200tdi turbo diesel engine and is an original factory unit, not a conversion from the 19j diesel engine found in earlier models. VIN is SALLDVAF8HA700107. The 200tdi is considered to be the most reliable diesel engine Land Rover has ever built, it's not very fast but it starts immediately every time and does not smoke. The truck is in good condition for its age but does have some cosmetic flaws. There are some dents and dings in the doors, sills and left side wing. None are large dents and can be repaired without too much hassle (the biggest one is in the driver side wing/headlamp frame, the rest are smaller). It doesn't have any rust, the foot wells do show signs of repair with previous rust pitting in the seam area between the floor board and foot well, but there are no rust holes and and the foot wells have been repainted. Other small dings, a surface crack in the quarter panel paint and a little surface rust here and there that can easily be cleaned off (any 25 year old vehicle will have a little surface rust unless it's been restored). Some tiny bubbles on various aluminum body panels which is known as contact corrosion and any old Land Rover will have that, easy to sand off, skim and repaint. Basically the body is in good condition for a 1991 model year but could use some light restoration and touching up depending on buyer's tastes. Door bottoms are all solid, as is frame.
Right side door card has a a couple of small tears in the corners but its in ok condition otherwise. Instrument cluster has a few plastic tabs broken off in the usual spots for these defenders, a new cluster is about 75 dollars.
The Defender has 223000 kms or 138260 miles, timing belt was changed within the last 50000 kms as is specified by the maintenance schedule. The engine runs well, brakes are fine, 4LO engages fine. Probably needs a ujoint, there is a clunk when releasing the clutch but the clutch itself feels normal. There is some road noise while driving but its an old school Defender, not a modern SUV. Its a nice solid truck in unrestored, original and very usable condition. Pleas expect normal wear and tear for a 25 year old vehicle. Vehicle sold AS IS with no warranty. Serious bidders only. Clear Virginia title in my name and all customs clearance documents are available. Thank you for looking as my listing.
Reserve is quite reasonable at under 17.5 k. I don't seek to make a huge profit on my imports, just a fair margin.
Passenger side door handle bezel, driver side door mirror and passenger seat belt buckle are on order from Rovah Farm and will be installed prior to delivery.
