1969 Land Rover Series IIA Station Wagon 88” 4X4

Up for sale is my 1969 Land Rover Series IIA Station Wagon 4x4 88”. The commission number is 24433831D whichwas produced in 1968. The vehicle had a complete body off new galvanized frame restoration between fall 2000 and spring 2001. Every component was rebuilt and I have a book of photos that document the restoration. The truck has been driven just over 6000 miles since the restoration. All mechanicals work perfectly and it drives excellent. It was upgraded with a Series III brake master and booster at the time of the restoration which makes braking much stronger. This is a very clean Landy with a very nice interior panel floor mats headliner and dash padding kit. The underneath shows signs of light four wheel action as these vehicles should but is tidy. This vehicle draws more looks and comments than my vintage Triumph sports cars. The kids love riding around in the back seats and are always asking for a ride.

I purchased the vehicle from a private collector who kept the car in his climate controlled warehouse. My intent was to enjoy it for a year then turn it over to the next caretaker. I love vintage cars and trucks and I always wanted one of these classic Land Rovers having ridden in one during my high school years in Vermont. These vehicles are extremely tough and great four wheelers. I am an avid classic British vehicle enthusiast and have loved this as my own baby. His name is Stanley for his safari adventure days.

Regarding maintenance I have various receipts documenting the history. One of the biggest investments was done in 2012. The vehicle had 5692 miles and nearly $3500 of work redoing all the brakes tune-up various repairs and replacing the head gasket. They found that the head gasket was not installed correctly so it ended up failing. Since acquiring it last summer I installed a new Zenith carburettor fuel pump and did a complete lube and oil service per the Land Rover service manual. Compression test on all four cylinders is great at 150 150 149 152. I replaced all differential gearbox and transfer box fluids replaced rubber gaiters installed new clutch slave cylinder and various sump gaskets. Basically I have tidied the car up to my high standards and she runs great. Starts right up even after sitting for a few weeks. The vehicle is always stored in my garage. It starts idles and runs excellent. No cooling issues whatsoever even in 90 plus degrees in Florida. Wish my Triumphs ranso cool.

The car does show some slight wear since restoration. Various paint nicks some scratching on the passenger window screen due to someone using the wiper without a wiper blade. Found that when I purchased the vehicle. I put new wiper blades on it and had planned on using my window polishing kit to buff out the scrathes. It is not bad at all and glass is easy to get if you want to replace it. Overall this is a very clean and excellent running Series IIA Land Rover. Very clean inside and out and ready for some four wheel fun cruise to the car show (you’ll be the only one there with one of these) or venture out with the Land Rover club. I have the original Union and Widney English keys original owners manuals including supplement and maintenance manuals as well as the highly sought after factory Part I and Part II service manuals. Also included is the original tool kit a Land Rover picnic basket and miscellaneous documentation. Feel free to ask any questions or if you want more pictures. There is a small black piece oftape on the dash under the key fob that the previous owner put there to protect dash from metal rubbing. It shows up inthe photos. You will enjoy this vehicle!

Average retail on these vehicles on NADA.Com is $24000 (see link below). Low value of $10800 and high price of $41800. I believe this truck to be much better than average but have a reserve placed that will surprise you. Looking to make room for the next toy.
