1982 Lancia Zagato Spyder

You want the best- THIS IS IT!
Considered by all who have seen her to be the very BEST Lancia Zagato Spyder left in the States! If you're sick of all those beat up $5,000 ebay and BAT Zagatos- this is the car for you. Selling at NO RESERVE!
1982 Lancia Zagato Spider. Rossa Corsa red. 5-speed manual. FI 2Liter Lampredi Twincam. This is the one you've been waiting for. If you want the best Zagato. look no further! Collector quality. very original car. enthusiast owned. The Spider was a limited edition in the Lancia Beta range. designed by Pininfarina. but built by Zagato. Only sold for 3 years in US. and becoming increasingly rare. The exterior of the car is REALLY nice. never any rust or accident damage. All panels are very straight. One quality repaint several years ago. Car was recently sent to local Massachusetts paint legend Danny McGhee to make her "Show Ready"- the original USA MASSIVE black rubber bumpers were removed and a set of very clean European Stainless Steel bumpers installed. All remaining holes filled with fresh sheetmetal and welded up. The entire car was block sanded down smooth and re-shot with clear coat. The whole car was color sanded and buffed to a really nice gloss. Nice drilled stainless pedals are on clutch, brake and gas pedals. A Euro-ONLY Air dam was sourced, expertly repaired, shot in matching body color and mounted. Is there a better looking Zagato Spyder on the planet?
All glass and trim are excellent. Perfect original undercarriage. Interior is a 9 out 10. Completely original. black leather is soft and supple, with really excellent front seats and very good rears- with only a little bit of repair work visible on the tops of the rear seats- covered when the rear window is folded down. The carpets show little wear, dashboard is perfect. Targa top and rear folding top in good shape. I even have the black cloth boot for the folding top!
Period correct Alpine stereo behind stock blank-off plate. Momo steering wheel upgrade with Lancia horn button is a nice touch. All body seals in good condition. no degraded plastic. Engine is excellent numbers matching and a recent cold compression test shows 165# on all cylinders. Fuel and ignition system recently serviced. fuel tank is clean. no rust ever. Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system functioning as new. New Italian clutch from IAP fitted less than 1000 miles ago. Transaxle is perfect. shifts smoothly in all gears with proper synchromesh. Brakes are excellent.
Wheels were sent out to the local Ferrari specialist to be media blasted, trued, primed and resprayed in Ferrari FC101 metallic Silver with clearcoat. Brand new Italian Sourced Lancia badges were applied to the wheel centers and four brand new Dunlop Radials installed.
Red KONI adjustable shock absorbers all around. new battery. new alternator.Euro sourced Carello driving lights and Hella headlights are present and work great. Power windows- surprising for anything Italian- work great!.
In addition to this lovely car I have a veritable footlocker full of additional items that will be included with the car- if you want them. The original EXCELLENT condition rubber USA bumpers are included. When the clutch was replaced another Lancia 5 speed gearbox was sourced "just in case" and is included for free. I also have a COMPLETE Factory Service manual, wiring manual and parts manual for this era Lancia. A spare set of front map pockets is included- which you will want to replace the originals which have speakers cut into them. The Mileage reflects removing the original USA Spec "80 MPH" speedo at 75K and replacing it with a Euro sourced 120MPH speedo. The car has done roughly 500 miles since this changeover. Heck- I even have an original "Lancia Zagato- Driving Redefined" Dealer Sweatshirt- which is included!
Between my efforts and the efforts of the previous owner- I think we have dropped an EASY $10K into this otherwise NICE car!
This car fires up instantly, settles into a smooth idle, pulls like fiend and handles great. The most surprising thing about this car is how well it drives! 90-100 MPH on the highway is effortless- the car pulls in all gear- even 2nd gear on a cold morning is butter smooth. The famously rubbery gearshift on this model has been adjusted about as well as possible and actually does not feel bad! I've been through every inch of this car and can attest to the fact that is is 100% rust free. Correct VIN on title is ZLAFS00C5B020268-
Look- You missed out on air cooled Porsches... You missed out on 560SLs... You missed out on Fiat Dinos.... DON'T MISS this car! I cannot imagine a scenario where this car is not worth DRAMATICALLY more over the next 10 years! You'll kick yourself when you start seeing $45,000 Zagatos! With all that stated- do remember this is a THIRTY FIVE year old car- in great shape for it's age but not brand new.
This is a NO RESERVE auction- So bid to win and ONLY bid if you can afford to buy her! YES- This car is ALSO for sale locally- so I reserve the right to end the auction if a suitable local offer is made.
