repairing rust for weeks on end, nd keep more of the original sheetmetal

Brief description:
This Jeep has been in AZ pretty much its whole life as far as we can find.
It had sat for about 4 yrs, o we drained the old gas, lushed the lines and
put about 5 gallons of fresh gas in it. It starts and runs, ut fairly hard to
get started when its cold. It probably takes about 5 or 6 times of cranking
it and pouring gas down the carb to get it started after it sits a few days. Also
It likes to backfire when Im trying to start it cold thru the carb.
After I get it started I just let it idle for a minute or so, hen after that its
starts like normal on the first crank for the next few hours and on the first
try all the time, nd runs better when warmed up.

ITS FAR FROM A RESTORED TRUCK. The motor seems solid, o knocking or
smoke. There are a few oil leaks that will need to be fixed too.
Mileage on the odometer shows about 63k, ould be original, ot sure.

This trucks has been in AZ for about the last 10 yrs if not longer....
ITS NOT A RESTORED TRUCK BY ANY MEANS !!!!
EXTERIOR:
For a 40+ yr old truck the body is pretty amazing. Paint is way old and bad
Only rust I found was in the lower corner of both rear flares, hats it. Rest of the
truck is very straight and rust free (body, loors, tc..) Window tint is old but
all the glass is okay. Dr window side window hard to roll up, ould be regulator
or rollers ? Driver side door latch works when it wants to.
Front lights work but didnt see the rears on. Its a very rare and
hard to find 2 Dr Jeep Cherokee.

DRIVETRAIN: it is an original factory V8 360 2v motor connected
to an auto trans and Jeeps legendary Quadra-Trac system. As mentioned
earlier, otor runs and sounds good once started. I DID drive this car on
a 10 mile journey across town last week. It did die twice but started okay
again. Not sure what all it needs, ut prob fuel related. It did like to pop and
back fire from time to time when driving it. Not sure if it was due to some old
gas still mixed in, r if it was carb related or timing . So expect to have to do some
work and tuning to it before making it a daily driver. Transmission shifted
fine and ran well at 55mph speeds on the freeway that day. I have not
taken it off road at all and tested the 4x stuff. It has the shifter on the floor
for the 4x stuff and the switch in what use to be the glove box there still.

INTERIOR:old, riginal showing its age very much. Looks almost like it was
just mostly used at a ranch or hunting vehicle. Its a little rough inside and yes and dirty.
Could use some new carpet etc. But replacing this sort of stuff is still easier and cheaper
then paying someone to cut out and replace rust for weeks. Original Tan color with
factory bucket seats. 2nd row back seat is actually in nice shape. I havent been able to
lower the power back window yet or drop the tailgate. Windows look purple due to way
old tint on the glass. Dash and cluster area showing their age too. NOT RESTORED just
had a mild cleaning.

SUSPENSION: best I can tell its pretty much stock, ther then the chrome spoke
15x8 chrome spoke wheels and older Michelin tires. Its not been lifted the best
I can tell, ut these things look great when they are ~~! While driving it around the
suspension felt pretty decent, lthough old and a little worn like an old truck.
I heard a few small clunks and noises while driving, ut nothing to major. There is
alot of oil from the motor leaking on the front suspension too. Rear suspension is
fairly dry and looks good.
