JEEP MITSUBISHI TURBO DIESEL J53

Price: - Item location: Fort Myers, Florida, United States
Description:

1988 Jeep CJ Black & Gold

NOTE: This is not a CJ Jeep, as you can see. Ebay has no way that I can see to list it for what it is other than a CJ Jeep, also the VIN is not for this Jeep. Being imported from Japan the VIN is different, it does have a US Title from GA. It would be easier if you are interested to just ask a question than to make any guess about the J53, lots of them have been imported and currently loved by those lucky enough to own one. There are several good YouTube videos as well.

Godzilla Tough!!!!

Born before we entered WWll, the legendary all terrain vehicle emerged from the fires of war to become a plaything for Americans obsessed with off road recreation. One of the big complaints has always been lack of power. Jeep designers have always had to balance weight with performance. Believe it or not, a very interesting solution to this problem came from the most unlikely of sources, this 1988 Mitsubishi built Jeep. Looks like an early postwar Willys Jeep, the diesel engine under the hood is the story here. Yes, a Japanese Jeep with a diesel engine and just 24,194 miles for $14,500.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries acquired a license to produce Jeeps in Japan in 1953. That license unbelievably ended up being used until 1988. Built of high grade steel, with hardened bolts plated with zinc, this jeep was built to a higher standard than American Jeeps, the original Willys style body gives this off road beast a distinctive style all of its own. What lies under the hood and body is anything but antique. The engine is a 2.7 liter 4DR6 Mitsubishi diesel that allow this Jeep to get nearly 30 mpg at 60 mph, and greatly benefits the Jeep with low speed torque, Combined with heavy duty Dana axles, a Spicer/Dana transfer case and a tough Mitsubishi manual transmission, you end up with a very capable vehicle. Performance and approach angle that allows up to 47%, and a departure angle of 35.5%, and you begin to see why this Jeep would appeal to almost everyone. Fully street legal here, comes with a full top and doors and has to rear jump seats as well.

All in all, this is a pretty cool Jeep that very few even know exists, so what are you waiting for? This is your invitation to the party, now all you have to do is show up, in style and in something no one else is likely to arrive in. Questions are free and I am open to offers. Cheers, Kevin
