Description:

1979 Jeep CJ

I bought this in Birmingham Alabama in 2014 with 19,184 miles on the odometer, (and the rebuilt 360 AMC motor).

The Jeep was originally equipped with a 304 and Mandarin Orange paint.

The new paint job is the same color and about 5 years old (+-).

New items I installed in the last 4 years:

Power steering gear and lower column coupling.

Twin Skyjacker steering stabilizers, (steers fantastically).

Master cylinder, proportioning valve & rear brake lines.

All stainless steel hardware, from bumper to bumper.

Main instrument cluster, (The odometer and fuel gauge did not work on the original unit when I purchased it.)

All indicator light bulbs in the dash are new. This includes the parking brake, bright lights, oil pressure warning, turn signals...)

All other dash light bulbs and the name plates are new and function.

A "real" water temperature gauge has been added.

Glowing LED light switches are new for: KC fog lamps, LED reverse lamps, independent red and yellow dome lights on roll bar and rear LED spotlight on the roll bar.

Four billet aluminum dash knobs for heat, fan and vent are new.

A current version JVC media player is installed with satellite radio tuner and antenna is in the weather tight locking center console. It controls all the popular music apps, iPods/iPhones. It has USB input and a microphone for calls.

Full leather Corbeau reclining racing seats, (I notched the body back at the fender wells so seats slide back far enough to fit tall people in both seats.) The driver's seat has air pump adjustable lumbar support.

Yellow and black Corbeau ratcheting 4 point racing harnesses have been installed to spec.

(The seats and belts were three thousand dollars by themselves.)

Custom built heavy duty rear drive shaft.

All new rear drum brake parts.

All new emergency brake parts.

All new red polyurethane bushings on the shackles for the leaf spring lift.

Gas tank, sender and wiring are new.

Stainless differential cover.

Full roll cage.

1979 era AMC 360 V8 has:

A small cam.

HEI distributor.

Live Wires spark plug wires.

Edelbrock - Model 1604 Performer Series 600 cfm, Square-Flange, Electric Choke Carburetor (non-EGR).

Edelbrock - Performer AMC Model 2131 high rise manifold.

Chrome Edelbrock valve covers.

K&M air filter and oil filler cap.

Aluminum radiator and fan.

1 year old Interstate battery with on-board Schumacher trickle charger.

New belts, light relays, starter solenoid...

All stainless steel, (304 and 409) dual exhaust with removable stainless steel hanging hardware.

Currently I have Headman headers with custom built 304 stainless resonators bolted to them. The rear has 304 stainless Magnaflow mufflers before the tail pipes.

I do have brand new Flowtech ceramic coated headers and 304 stainless Kooks R300-10 mufflers that can replace the resonators if a quitter sound is preferred. I just haven't installed them yet. (They and other stainless 90 degree bends, fittings, hangers, header flanges and pipes go with the sale.)

Full original 1978 Jeep factory manual.

Tires are 33x12.5 R15 mud & snow. They have approximately 80% remaining.

I have Mobile One oil with zinc additive in the motor.

The jeep runs strong and handles like a sports car!

Included are: Bikini and full tops, and a car cover.

I have had three 1978 and one 1983 CJs over 36 years and know them well. This is a clean Jeep with quality work performed for fun.

I am retired now and have purchased a truck.

I can provide a youtube link to a video taken by the previous owner. Many nice changes have been made since then.

I don't use the heater and think maybe the cables are switched under the dash? The fan works fine but I have not bothered to play with the cables. The cables all work.

The pinion bearing is starting to go. I have current pictures of the ring and pinion taken when I changed the fluid in the differential. There is not excessive wear on the ring or pinion gears so it drives fine. I priced an entire rebuild on Summit at around $700. This includes seals one piece drive shafts, bearings and gears. This is priced in the sale already.

Please ask questions. I will be glad to help with more details or provide high definition photos.

The buyer is responsible for pickup of the jeep after purchase.

All payment details will be taken care of through eBay so everyone feels comfortable.

I don't sell anything out of the 48 contiguous United States.

I have the vehicle for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the action at any time.

Thanks for looking!
