1978 Jeep CJ

This is a 1978 CJ5 with modified 350 Chevy and 350 turbohydramatic automatic transmission. We have just completed a 2 year long extensive restoration of this jeep. I am a travel nurse, and I’m just not going to get enough use out of this Jeep to consider keeping her. She can be seen at Ark Automotive in Pueblo, Colorado from Monday through Friday. Please note; this is a cash in hand only auction. I will not accept Paypal, cashiers check, or money order. Vehicle has a clear title and can be inspected and driven prior to your purchase. Please don't make ridiculous offers on a Jeep that has more than $30,000 invested in it. It is as cheap as I will sell it for. If you can find a better deal on a jeep, send me the ad. I WANT TO SEE IT!

This low mileage Jeep was placed in storage after the first owner died. The second owner found her and began the restoration. He took it down to the frame and replaced the engine and transmission. He painted the super clean rust free body and undercoated the chassis and did all the things you would expect on a restoration. When I bought it for $10,000 two years ago, it was a nice driveable Jeep but I wanted more. Because I’m really picky and I never wanted to get stuck in the back country I built her up for performance and reliability. Now, a majority of the parts are less than two years old. Over the course of two years, we have rebuilt ALL the suspension and front end, from the frame down, including the hangers, with the best parts available. The motor has been freshened up, and the interior has been revamped. The transfer case has been rebuilt and the rear end has had single piece axles installed. The brakes have been checked out and new pads installed on the front.When you step on the gas, the dual exhaust bellows and the modified 350 pushes you back in the seat. It's a real jeep. This one pulls the stock Jeeps and Hummers out when their wimpy little engines let them get stuck. Here is a partial list of items that have been replaced;

Suspension and Front end:Everything on the suspension from the frame down has been rebuilt or replaced. Tuff country shock boots, Alloy USA Heavy duty ball joints, Skyjacker Hydro 7000 steering stabilizers, Skyjacker monotube shocks, Rugged Ridge heavy duty tie rod end and drag link kit, Skyjacker soft ride 4" over springs, Rugged Ridge Heavy Duty Greasable front and rear shackles with red poly bushings, new bump stops, and new leaf spring hangers front and rear. Power steering unit was just resealed and the steering box was replaced. A NOS front stabilizer bar was sent to the powdercoat shop and installed with all new bushings and a quick disconnect system to keep things stable.

Engine and drive train:New Edelbrock 1406 Performer series carb, calibrated for high altitude and mated to an Edelbrock performer aluminum intake., “Trick Flow” aluminum high lift .430 heads, a new high lift hydraulic Crane cam with hydraulic roller lifters, and roller rocker arms were added. Also, a new high flow water pump, new aluminum radiator with custom aluminum overflow, a new electric fan, and new controller for the fan were added to keep things cool. Mate this up to ceramic coated Hooker headers with dual exhaust, and this spicy little beast really screams. Power is coupled through a 350 TH transmission with new chrome finned bottom pan and mated to cutom drive shafts. The transfer case has also been rebuilt with heavy duty components, and a new finned cover installed for added strength and durability. All fluids have been changed and replaced with synthetics and the two piece axles in the rear have been changed to alloy one piece units. Rear brakes were rebuilt and new high performance pads were installed on the front.

Interior:new Smitty built XRC suspension seats up front, and a Corbeau suspension seat in the rear keep you in line to point this little girl in the right direction. New RJS harnesses keep everyone secure and safe. A new Sony 25 watt entertainment system hooked up to MB Quart speakers on the roll bar and a powered sub under the rear seat, keeps you favorite tunes nearby. A Uniden SSB CB radio is there between the seats if you need to reach out. New custom lockable storage containers over each rear wheel well offer safe storage for your valuables and handguns. A fire extinguisher and flashlight have been mounted on the roll cage as well as grab bars. The glove box liner has been replaced as have all the gauge lights and knobs. New switches were also installed on the dash. The turn signal mechanism has been rebuilt as have the windshield wiper linkages, wiper arms, and wipers. A new custom steering wheel has also been placed. This is a model with high grip so the wheel stays in your hand. The floor pan inside has also just been freshened up with 3M undercoating. Above your head, a modified roll cage keeps you safe. And to keep out the rain and cold, a new Bestop top with new full doors has just been installed.

In the rear you will find a heavy duty rear bumper with mounts for the existing; high lift jack with accessory bag, and a jerry can, to keep your mind secure in the back country. A new stainless steel door provides access to the new gas cap that leads to the petroleum tank with new sending unit. Up front are new KC lights to brighten the trail at night. Stainless steel components have been added all over from mirrors, to windshield hinges, to windshield bolts, to anchors......, too many to list.

I have over $30,000 invested in this jeep and that's mostly new parts money of approximately $18,000. So you're buying the jeep for less than what I currently have invested in parts and labor and you’re getting the Jeep for free. Cash in hand only. No joy rides.
