1986 Jeep CJ

You are bidding on a very nice 1986 Jeep CJ7. I have had this Jeep for about 3-4 years, and have had no problems with it. It runs and drives good. It sits in my garage most of the time and rarely get's driven... that's why I'm selling it. Hate to see it go!

I recently replaced the front/rear oil seals and the oil pan gasket, and while I had the pan off the oil pump and rod/main bearings were replaced just because it was convenient. The inside of the engine looked really good, I believe it may have been rebuilt at some point. Also replaced the valve cover and valve cover gasket.

I had it painted in 2016, the paint is very nice (smooth like glass).... blue with metallic. The hardtop was painted satin black at the same time. There is a small sign of rust coming through on the driver's side floor pan and signs of surface rust in other places, but other than it is well above average for a 1986. I installednew hood hold-down latches, new bright headlights, and new front side marker light assemblies.

It has an Air-locker rear axle with the compressor under the hood, and has a front Auto-locker axle, which would be excellent for climbing and off-roading, whichwas on it when I purchased it. It all works good, but when not in use you don't even know its there. I only used 4-wheel drive in the snow, and it has no problems makings it's way through very heavy snow.

There is an 8,000 lb Warn Wench mounted on the heavy duty front bumper. It has a remote cord and works great.... I used the wenchone time. Also has a "hi-lift" jack and handle mounted to the heavy duty rear bumper. Tires have about 20% tread on them, with matching spare.

The owner before me replaced the stock ignition with a Delco style electronic ignition, which was a good move. The carburetor is a 2-barrel Weber.Like all of the old carbs with chokes, it's a little cold-blooded ona cold day before the engine warms up.

Has nice weather-proof seat covers on front/rear seats, the interior and carpetis in excellent shape as you can see in the pictures. It has heavy duty front weather-proof floor mats. No cracks in any of the glass. All of the controls and accessories work except for the horn.... when I push the horn I hear a relay under the dash so it could be a bad wire or a bad horn, I never took the time to mess with it. The gas gauge works, but it's empty when it shows an 1/8 tank (I learned the hard way).

New stereo and speakers installed in 2017, speakers installed in factory locations. The stereo has blue-tooth and has microphone for hands-free phone conversations when paired with your phone.

This is a 1986,so don't expectlike-new condition. However it is quite nice for an unrestored CJ7. I wouldn't be afraid to go cross-country with it, it has always been reliable and the engine/drivetrain seem pretty solid.Looks very respectable the way it is, and I always get compliments wherever I drive it. It doesn't need restored, but would be an excellent piece to start with if you are looking to build a show-piece.

Ask me all the questions you want... no surprises here.
