1961 Jeep CJ

This 1961 Willy's Jeep CJ5 has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration including the installation of a modernized power train. This CJ retains its original steel body and frame, and was fully disassembled for the restoration. The frame was sandblasted and then painted and epoxied to preserve it for decades. The Jeep was originally a southern vehicle so there was very little corrosion to begin with. The power train is a 3.8L .030 bored, polished and blueprinted 3.8L GM engine. It is mated through an Advanced Adaptor bell housing and shaft to an NP435 heavy duty New Process 4 speed transmission. The power train provides more modern driveability and reliability, which means this vintage CJ can easily keep up with modern speed limits. The body and tub are original Willy's steel that have undergone a complete restoration. The exhaust is was redone and is in great condition from the heads all the way to the tailpipe. The original factory drum brakes have been upgraded to modern front disc brakes. The tires sit on Pacer black spoked rims. The heating system has been upgraded with a modern electric motor and switch. The factory wipers have also been upgraded to electric units with individual switches on the top of the windshield frame. The all seat frames have undergone a restoration including new springs, foam and rugged ridge weatherproof seat covers. The clutch works perfectly. There is a tow hitch and wiring on the CJ.The gauge cluster has been upgraded with a modern reproduction Willy's unit and all gauges work as new. All lights work, and there is a modern stereo mounted in the glove box with removable rear speakers. This sale includes two roofs, a Bestop Supertop with full doors as well as a bikini top. This CJ runs looks and drives perfectly. The Speedometer/odometer was replaced during the restoration and there has been 8600 miles put on the Jeep since the restoration.Over $20,000 spent on this restoration, with all receipts provided to the new owner.
