Up for auction is anextremely rare, incredibly well optioned and documented 1979 Jeep CJ5 Golden Eagle with 95,000 original miles. This Jeep is equipped with some very rare factory options including a 4 speed manual transmission, 3.54:1 trac-lok rear differential, A/C, draw bar, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt steering wheel, Golden Eagle package, extra-duty suspension package, steering damper, and cold climate group. The infamous Golden Eaglepackage added the following options to this CJ5: hood decal and lettering, 15x8 gold accented wheels with black pinstripe, Tracker A-T 9x15 white letter tires, wheellip extensions, rear-mounted fixed spare tire carrier, tan denim vinyl bucket seats and rear bench, tan denim vinyl soft top, brown carpeting, black sport steering wheel, roll bar, convenience group, rocker panel moldings, and rally tach and electric clock. This CJ5 is also fitted with the following dealer-installed accessories availablethrough Jeep for the 1979model year: Warn 8,000lb electric winch with cable guide and grille guard, roll bar padding, fog lights, and cruisecontrol. This Jeep was originally sold at Hollenback AMC/Jeep in Spokane, Wa and has never left the area. All of the options described can beverified by the original window sticker as well as the 1979 Jeep sales catalog and 1979 Jeep accessories catalog which still remain with the truck today. The interior of this jeep is in excellentcondition for its age. The original dash pad is very nice, but has 4 small holes in the top of it. The factory radio is missing, but theoriginal speaker remainsunderthe dash. Thefront seats were replaced with matching tan denim high back seats at some point and are in excellentcondition. The rear bench seat is original and is free of any damage. The original brown carpeting still remains in the truck and is in excellentcondition aside from being worn through on the driver's side near the heel pad. The sport steering wheel had a cover on it for many yearsand is in excellent shape. The original soft top frame was recovered in an OEM tan denim replacement top at some point in the past and is in excellentshape aside from a small hole near the driver's side door handle. All of the plastic windows are very clear and free of any cloudiness or distortion. The paint on this CJ5 is mostlyoriginal, but it does appear that the driver's side of the hood and driver's fender was painted at some point and blended into the rocker panel. The Golden Eagle decals as well as the Jeep badge and CJ5 badge are all original. The body does has a very minimalamount of rusttowards the back of the truck at the body seams of the fixed panel where the spare tirecarrier is mounted. There are also a few small pinholes where the driver's rearwheellip extension mounts to the body. Other than those areas, the body andundercarriage are completely rust free. The floor pans, firewall, body mounts, and fenders are all solid and dry. There is also a dent in the body above the driver's rearwheellip extension. This Jeep runs and drives very well. Theoriginal 258 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine was rebuilt in 2004when the truck had 74,000 miles. The 4 speed transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch engages well. Theoriginal locking hubsremain on the front of the Jeep and turn freely, butcould use a good greasing as the passenger front hub makes a clicking noise when engaged. The A/C, cruise control, and fuelgauge are not currentlyfunctional but remainentirely intact. Theoriginal spare white letter 9x15 Tracker A/T still remains on the truck with theoriginal optional wheel lock. Included with the sale of this truck is the originalwindow sticker, both 1979 Jeep catalogs, theoriginal Warn winch owner's manual, and theoriginal winch remote. This is likely themostoriginal and documented Jeep CJ5 in existence today and istruly a piece of history! This would be a great start to a restoration project or would be an excellent original patina driver.
