1978 Jeep CJ CJ-7

Good running 1978 Jeep Renegade Levis edition up for auction. 304V8 with a Turbo400 automatic transmission. If you let it sit for a few days it will puff a little blue smoke when you first start it and then it clears up. The odometer says 59674, but I feel sure its 159,674. The Jeep had electrical problems when I bought it and resulted in a newalternator, battery, solenoidswitch and some new wiring. Its correct now and starts the 1st time everytime. Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, fuel gauge, oil pressure, volts and heater fan work. I'm pretty sure the wipers work too, I will double check. Iput on a new set of headers and side pipe mufflers. I have the original exhaust manifolds that will go with the Jeep also. The Jeep has some rust issues as most of them do at35+ years old and un-restored.The floor pans have had metal panels installed and the interior tub painted with blackRustoleum. It looksgood and is solid for a driver Jeep. The front seat belts are in the Jeep. I guess the previous owner had an unlimited supply of diamond plate, because its everywhere on the Jeep. I took the piece loose on the drivers corner and I didn'tsee any rust thru. I actually took a couple pics under each rear corner and didn't see any rust thru. I guess he just liked the diamond plate. The frame has been repaired in a couple places with what looks like 1/8" steel welded in. Its probably stronger than the factory frame and it looks pretty good. The rocker panels and over the wheel on the drivers side is the worst on the tub(see pics). Good hardtop with no cracks, glass is good, windows wind up and down. It does need an outside door handle on the passengers side and the cylinders hooked up on the hatch. Please look at all the pics. The Jeep has some rust, but its still in good enough shape to bea driver as is. Matching set of 31x10.50x15 Mud terrain tires on original Jeep wheels. I have the chrome centers that will be included also. The Jeep has power steering and power disc brakes. Mechanically the only thing I have noticed is when you start the Jeep and go to reverseyou have to wait about3 seconds for it to go into reverse. A fluid and filter change may correct this. All forward gears are right there when you put it in gear. When it gets warm, its not as bad in reverse. The vacuum lines will need to be replaced for the Quadra-trac as they are dry rotted and full of cracks. The button is still in the glove box and the low range shifter is still in the floor on the drivers side. The Jeep runs, drives and stops as it should, but it does have some rust and the reserve and "buy it now " prices reflect that. Drive it as it is or restore it. They don't make them like this anymore and they are getting few and far between, especiallyat the price of this one. Good luck bidding and feel free to ask any questions. Clean Va. title in my name. I can help with shipping. I have two shippers that will deliver anywhere in the U.S. and I will be glad to get the winning bidder a quote if needed. Please look at my feedback and bid with confidence. Itry to describe these vehicles as best as possible and include pics of everything. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
