(Quotes from “ClassicCar Magazine”)“The General Big Shift in Ferrari and Aston Values has had a Knock-on Effect on the Only Other Viable Classic Supercar --- the E-Type”--- Today’s E-Type buyers want to use their cars, taking in continental tours or competitive navigational rallies, which iswhy the 4.2 liter SR I XK-Engine has risen to the top of the most-wanted list. When Jaguar launched the E-Type six years earlier it had a less torquey 3.8 liter XK engine and a four-speed Moss gearbox, and it’s the latter that puts most people off on the 3.8 liter cars. ---Good SR I 4.2 liter E-Types have forged ahead of them

This Series 1 E-Type hasALL OF THE FEATURES MOST COMMONLY DESIREDby Jaguar E-Type collectors and that can only be found on the later SR I XKE’s.These Features Include:

  • High Performance 4.2 Liter Engine
  • All Synchronized 4 Speed Gearbox
  • Triple SU Carburetor System
  • Chrome Wire Wheels
  • More Comfortable Seats
  • Deeper Foot Wells for More Leg Room
  • Stiffer Rear Springs for Improved Handling
  • Improved Brakes
  • Lighter Clutch Pedal Action, and
  • Covered Headlights

THE E-TYPE JAGUAR…known to Americans as the XKE,reallyneeds no introduction. IfEnzo Ferrari, a highly competitive man to say the least, “the most beautiful car ever made”,that pretty much sets the ceiling in terms of praise --- 50+ years later the E-Type continues to be celebrated andhold its place in history.

The E-Typewas introduced to the automotive world in 1961after years of speculation. The brainchild of Williams Lyons and a passionate team of advisersand designers, it was aptly named E-Type, as it was a clear descendantfrom the accomplished C and D-Types that had been dominating racetracks.Jaguar took what it learned on the track and applied it to the E-Type.The monocoque passenger compartment, tube framed engine bay and tilting hood clearly came from the D-Type.When the E-Type came out it exhibited 265bhp at 5,500rmp, a 3,781cc double overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder engine, three carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox, four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes with rear discs fitted next to the differential to reduce unsprung weight, and importantly, it has a fully independent suspension for all four wheels.

Although the E-Type saw three Series models over its near 15-year production cycle, it’s the original Series 1 design that’s most sought after by collectors and gear-headsalike. The Series 1’s aero-covered headlights, slim bumpers, and minimalisttrim remain the most timeless of the variants, and as stated above thelater 4.2 liter Series 1 E-type’semploy ALL of the features most commonly desired by collectors / investors.

In addition to being an engineering stroke of brilliance, the E-Type was one of the most attractive, sensuous and evocative designs ever to grace an automobile chassis-as quoted by one automotive critic “sex on wheels”. As witnessed in numerous surveys throughout the years, including a survey done by “The Daily Telegraph”, the E-Type consistently comes out on top as the most beautiful car ever built. The E-Type’s design is an artful blend of race car and show car, not since the introduction of the XK 120 at the London show of 1948 had any sports car produced such a stir or so much favorable comment.

The E-Type was also one of the fastest production cars on the road in 1961 at close to 160 miles per hourand held that record for many years to come. It’s no wonder that the E-Type Jaguar has become one of the most desirable Classic Car Investments today.

Many considerthe E-Type FHC even MORE BEAUTIFUL than the OTS roadsterdue to its stunning flowing body lines. As a result, the FHC’s are now increasing in value faster than the highly valued roadsters.

THE CAR BEING OFFERED…is a beautiful 1967 Series 1 E-Type Jaguar FHC finished in Pale Primrose Yellow with a beautiful Black Interior which compliments the exterior brilliantly. This E-Type isguaranteed to be a crowd pleasure at any classic car show, or main street you race through. You’re guaranteed to have a lot of fun everywhere you drive it and you’ll definitely need to add time everywhere you go for people to take photos.

CAR'S HISTORY

Since rolling off the production floor, the car has only known 3 owners; however the first owner only held onto the car for about one year, so its spent the majority of its life between only two owners. The current owner has had the pleasure of enjoying and showing the car for nearly 15 years.Since purchasing the car in 2005, routine maintenance has been performed with thorough record keeping, which will be included with the purchase of the car. Additional documentation is included from the previous ownership which validates its lifetime spent as a California “Black Plate” car.

I have been asked to sell this car for a fellow member of the Minnesota Jaguar Club. I myself have been in the club for 40+ years and have restored many E-type Jaguars. To give you an idea of who I am see my personal collection on the following link: seepictures.wixsite.com/genesgarage.

CONDITION IS AS FOLLOWS

PAINT ---The exterior is painted Pale Primrose; it’s not concours but as seen by the photos the car still looks stunning. Pale Primrose is highly appreciated and highlights the beautiful lines of a Series I E-Type Jaguar. It tends to further distinguish the beauty of this car in the sea of red cars at any local car show.

BODY SHEET METAL---Body is solid. It spent much of its life in California and of course since being brought to Minnesota it’s only been driven in the summer months.

INTERIOR ---The contrasting black updated interior is in very nice condition. Updates includenew seat covers and center console with upgraded matching binding that ties nicely with the cars exterior color.

ENGINE BAY ---Not original paint (painted black) but clean.

TRUNK ---Solid and clean. CorrectSeries I spare tire/wheel with knockoff hammer and upgraded carjack included.

WHEELS/TIRES ---The chrome wire wheels complete with knock-off center spinners are original and in good shape for original wheels. New tires were put on the car a few years ago around 58.5k miles.

GLASS ---Original glass throughout; some minor wiper marks on the windshield but again for original glass it’s in good shape.

CHROME ---Chrome is good but some patina due to the fact it’s mostly original thus most of it has never been re-plated.
