Description:

1994 Jaguar XJS

This is just out of the shop, so I'm listing a 3-day auction with everything as is. Here's the story:
Bought this '94 XJS Coupe with 4.0L six-cyl with all factory amenities plus sunroof from restorer who repaired and re-registered it. I put on a set of genuine Jaguar-badged 72-spoke Dayton wire wheels. I've owned it eight years, used it as my daily driver, and for the first five years was the most reliable car I've ever owned and the cheapest to own and operate.
For two of the last three, I've either been overhauling/upgrading or enjoying. For the last year, I've had a gremlin in the electricals. Several months including having two shops officially give up. Brought home last weekend with the idea of replacing a relay & got enough control of transmission electricals to be fully driveable. I haven't bothered with a CarFax - it has 43 items on the report - because I've owned the car for eight years and its history is documented and its condition available for examination.
'94 model, Jaguar XJS Coupe, 2+2, new front leather, new front carpets, new walnut veneer, upgraded Alpine head unit with MP-3 player, power air, seats, cruise and transmission mode controls. Cold air and everything working. Tires have an easy year or more of life available.
Transmission overhauled, motor replaced & overhauled, new radiator, transmission control module, valve body/solenoids, alternator & belts replaced over last two years.
Still to be done: About $500 in small stuff that nobody has done while not fixing the big stuff - mostly new bushings in front end, cleaning/gapping or replacing plugs & plug wires. The "big thing" has been the gremlin in the trans electricals. As of right now, you set the trans to start in second gear until you warm up the tranny. Then stop, set the trans to sport shift, restart and drive. Downshifting will be a little noticeable until you're highway-speed-warm.
The hotter you drive this car, the smoother everything runs. I ran it earlier this week nearly cold at 3000RPM on a humid spring day.
I haven't even washed it before I snapped the one picture I've posted. If you know what a Jaguar is, you know what I'm selling. Opening bid is what I need to clear from it within 2-4 weeks, plus enough to cover eBay/PayPal's fees. The "as-is" auction ends at midnight Sunday. If nobody is ready to buy, I'll keep fixing the "little stuff" and tuning & tweaking the rest. As more things get fixed, the price for the Jag will keep going up. Comparable models in this condition with well under 100K miles are going for $15,000 and up.
If you know what you want, have the money to buy now and are ready to do actual business, contact me through eBay's message system. Pickup is local though I will meet you a few miles down the road if we agree on the rest.
The only reason you could ever touch my baby is that she needs to be tinkered with regularly, and I'm 75 miles from anyone not afraid to open the hood. I have to let her go to a good home.
UPDATE: I added pix - just quick snaps with camera phone - needs detailing but body and interior look great. That one photo of a little paint peeling is the only flaw in the paint job I've found.
